A new episode was released again and people seem to really like it. Wonder if anyone here have played it?

So this latest one was built by Sumo Digital from the sound of it. Seems really odd how IO are developing this game.

Is there any date for the full release? Waiting patiently

Guess shortly after all chapters have been released? This is what I was aiming to get, since I don't have much time to play (maybe dumber move) but I think to understand that the full version will miss all the temporary 48h targets(?)
this would be mildly annoying, as I think it would be quite easy to implement a timer system for the stand alone version. -
Yeah, same for me.. I'm waiting for the boxed version of this.

Was wondering more specifically if there is a date for all the chapters to be released. Seems there has been maybe 4 episodes so far? Maybe there'd be 10 in the full game normally (could be wrong on this) - so perhaps it's a way off still -

'HITMAN: The Complete First Season '
I love Hitman but hearing episodes and seasons attached to it is really bugging me, it is a game right? not a tv show?
Or is the industry just looking for ways to put incomplete products and DLC under the same name so there is less of a backlash towards it?
-
What's the problem with episodic? Truth be told it's quite hard and intimidating to tackle a 40+ hours game when you work full time and have a soulmate.
Hell, I find difficult finishing games as shorter than that, if it doesn't absorb me complwtely.
I didn't really consider getting into World Of Assassination because I haven't finished Absolution in the first place, but as well with all these alternate targets I was thinking it would be too much of a time sinker. Looking back now, I actually think that playing episodically would have probably been better for the time I can dedicate to gaming. Play the mission, sometime after play an alternate target that comes up, then a new mission… without feeling you are like letting the game collect dust.
-
There's absolutely nothing wrong with episodic, if more games would like to follow Himan's footsteps it wouldn't bother me at all. It can be like a TV series, you have to wait 6 months till the next season.
Unless it's a game like Uncharted or Last of Us. It would kill me to have to wait a year or more to finish the whole thing, sometimes a packaged product is what you want.
-
Yeah, I agree with HP, it's fine if it fits the game. And in the case of Hitman, it definitely does. Each chapter is supposed to serve as a fun little toy you can replay, examine, goof around with, complete challenges in, etc. If it was a linear, full SP game you'd probably press "next mission" and be done with it and you'd miss out on a loooot of content (just think of all the ways you can complete a mission). Furthermore, they cleverly expand the use of each mission by introducing elusive target special events and such.
Finally, from a business perspective it makes sense. They are essentially turning the game into a living product, which is incredibly hard to do with single player games. That means that sales don't spike at release and then hit rock bottom, but instead can be sustained over a longer period by keeping it in the news cycle.

The full game is still £40 so it's not as bad as some companies charging £40 on top of stock price for a 'season's pass' which is 70-80% filler content. *cough* fallout *cough*.
This may lead to better quality products in general too- devs can factor in feedback on the initial releases into later ones. Not sure on the pricing - how much content are you getting for your £7?
As long as we don't end up with 'publisher subscribing' (I think EA already tried this) then this may be a good thing for the industry and possibly even modders- Is there anything to stop Square Enix offering some sort of operation-style profit share on unofficial content?
-
Yeah with this Hitman IO hit the correct mark, and commercially they have been "user/fanbase fair", not taking advantage with surcharges. Eg: why buy any Telltale game at D1 when in a few months you get the whole package at 40-50%?
It's definitely a formula that can be applied to several other games. Surely a rollercoaster like Uncharted begs to be completed quickly, but those games are nowhere near the length of products like this
for this adventure games I'm a bit annoyed by the way the "episodic" structure is implemented internally (get a long, sometimes non-skippable, cutscene a few minutes after you start playing just because, like Alan Wake or a Telltale game). -
The digital version of the complete first season is available on psn now for only £24, down from £44 - offer ends in a couple of days though. This is the same as the version that's coming out boxed in January right?
-
Yes, it is the same.
-
Bought this, I hope it's better than Absolution which i could not get into at all.

-
Yeah, I just bought the complete first season on PS+ as well, 30 bucks! What a deal. I've heard all but great things about this game, looking forward to try it, but first there's FF15 and The Last Guardian.

WTF! ?
Was reading yday about the latest update hearing the game for retail, adding offline content…apparently there is gear that you unlock that is available only if connected? Is it only me thinking that is obnoxious that in 2016 this is something that a dev can omit in their first release?
Also still bitter for the Elusive Targets not being available in the complete collection. I understand this was an incentive to buy episodic, but since the missions are there don't see the point of not making them accessible for those who buy the retail version for the same price of the early adopters. Cos with this ingenious trick, IO has found a way to create a long tail of full price sales. Implementing a timer system once you begin those missions doesn't seem complicated.
