@ScottehBoeh, remains the fact that you should be aware that you made people a bit edgy, when you weren't listening or appearing to listen to what people said. This is mainly why people overreacted concerning your "collaboration" with other mappers.

So bear in mind that feedback is given to improve things, and if someone feel the need to say something, it is worth listening even if it is your map.

On an another note, it seems that it is still more fitted for insurgency than cs go (what Vorontsov and other said), fact that you shouldn't forget about.

I like getting feedback for my maps. What I don't enjoy is "I never liked the hostage game mode and I don't think this map will work with it". Why? Surely just a mere explanation of why you think this map may not succeed would increase my chances of being able to "patch" it up so that it does work?

I gave you feedback that said the fog didn't contribute to meaningful game-play? Fog generally makes engagements random. Look at cs;go's initial release, where most of the maps had fog, but were since updated without fog. I think if valve deem it necessary to remove the fog, I'd have a good think about whether or not it should feature in your level.

Defuse Maps have different aspects of gameplay compared to Hostage Maps. I understand that most maps on CS:GO have set engagements, but why not have something new and different? It would be awesome to have to take new tactics to enter, capture and leave the town. Randomness requires extra skill from the player, and would make it more fun in my opinion.

Something new and different, like a map where CT's teleport to various points around a cluster of buildings in deep fog, to rescue the hostages.

Honestly, I don't mind that you're making cs_insertion2 and kudos for getting Oskmos' blessing, but please stop arguing that you're trying something new.

Players don't like randomness. Look at all Dota 2 RGN skills and random crits in tf2. It's nice to have something new and fresh but you need to be careful with this. Players can get annoyed very quickly.

    dude, forget it.

By the way, randomness does not require any skill, it is by definition ... random.

How do you plan to optimize this map? There is a ton of foliage which is very heavy on most computers. With a 7970, 3GHz processor and 16GB of RAM I'm still dropping to less than 40 fps in some areas of the map. It's also very hard on the eyes currently, everything is bright white. I'm aware that it snows in some regions of the Middle East, but this looks like the North Pole.

This map is as optimised as possible. There should be no reason for low Frame rates and if so you must compare it with other maps that you play. No props are projected/shown outside of the fog. Hopefully the optimisation helps a lot of people. :)

Okay, leave the gameplay as it is but PLEASE fix the fog color, IRL snowy fog looks like this: http://www.myexpatliving.com/wp-content/upl…10/DSCN6532.jpg As you can see your map looks nothing like that. For optimizing you can use far z clip to cut things out when they are not seen.

Also, Clipping on stairs is VERY important, everyone will hate you if you will not add it

The problem is, because of the fog color things are seen even when they are in the fog.

I agree with what P1g3on said about the fog color.

This is how much 2 minutes of messing with the fog settings can improve the look of the map.

Thanks for pointing out that issue, P1g3oN. I've fixed that issue now and it should work perfectly :D I've not added pure white fog or tinted pink fog because of the area the map is set. But I have instead used this: http://www.off-grid-life.com/Land-Rd-1-Snow…93S-Web=459.jpg

Would you consider that a good colour for the fog? Let me know guys. :)

    Cherry Picking at its finest,

He is evidently talking about the fog and its effects, not about copying a concept from another map...

Unique maps have a very low success rate in Counter-strike. Essentially every non-conventional map that's been in an operation has been the least favored out of all them, at best they serve as novelty maps. Insertion was probably the most disliked map out of the Breakout pool, it was an experiment and fun in some ways, but its gameplay didn't fit in CS. And really if you want to talk original this map isn't that, its a knockoff of Insertion copying two of its most notable features, the spawns and fog.

"Gameplay didn't fit in CS". Counter-Strike. Acts of SWAT teams in action. Think: If counter strike was JUST STARTING and you suggested this kind of concept. I guarantee the developers of counter strike would take it on. It's a Swat Mission. It's not close quarters, so what? It's still counter terrorists against terrorist in a possible situation

Honestly, that means nothing. The setting really is less relevant than whether it works with the gameplay of the game. But you should make what you want, just understand that it may not work.

Wow, i even made a video of the issue but somehow you missed it. Fog should be the color of the skybox. Really easy with you because your skybox is just one color.

The video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVexYnvVBS8&feature=youtu.be You even replied to the comment but looks like you never clicked the video.

The fog is the same colour as the sky-box, now. I accidentally uploaded the wrong version of the map file and the fog was totally off. It should all look nice now. :)

Guys if you don't think Scott is taking your feedback seriously just move on. There's 100 maps in the contest currently - most of the makers are dying for feedback...
