Apparently in the first HL2 mission pack you'll be playing as Alyx...
System Shock 2 is a fine example of Coop gaming at it's best.

when can i play as dog
in third person with all kinds of awesome melee combos.
Forget about that, Playing as a civilian would fit seamlessly into the game now, You could even get away with not adding any new dialogue to explain it.
it would be retarded. Halflife 2 is solo. Meant to be that way. Can't change it.
Oh, its a single player game. I didnt see that.
R6: Rogue Spear + COOP = Good fun.
sven coop 2 will be fun
Co-op horror would be a path worth exploring.
me likes coop
Quote from skdrIs there possibility to play regular single player missions in co-op mode or are there specific co-op levels built for it?
They are seperate levels from the single player, A seperate story with two different operatives that takes place while sam is out doing the chaos theory missions (there is a point in one of the levels where the two stories tie together sorta (kinda funny)
CT coop gets my vote for most innovative gameplay idea this year. Coop mode is soooooooooo badass. Just make sure you play with a friend, and not some random asshole.
Co-op would add replay value to the game, I'm sorry but HL2 and Doom3 are both very very nice games, but I'd rather stab myself straight to the eye than play them through again, it's just pointless, just like wiping my ass twice when I'm on the can.
But if strategically placed co-op points to the game ,like in HL2 when a big fight begins some civilian would be controllable by other player, the game just changes some settings and spawns more mobs or just get a guy following that doom marine around for reasons unknown, that would add replay value to the game, but publishers don't care, the sucker already bought the game, they don't care what you do with it after you have bought it.
Many co-ops are very cheap, sometimes they just spawn another toon to the game and let's your friend take over, but does it matter if it fits to the game? The funfactor just rockets through the roof.
I can think several games that would have been so awesome to play as co-op, games like Thief 3 and Deus Ex 2. Then there are the games that are ment for two or more players, like the xbox baldurs gate and that Fallout brotherhood of what ever, now those are not fun alone, you need a friend to play them with you.
If a game has had co-op me and my cousin have played it, we are nuts for those.
