I just cleared the forum caches, for some reason something there was causing a lot of slowdown. I've gathered server logs and am having the vendor look into what might have caused this.

Searching is something that I'll work on improving. I had to lock it down quite tightly a couple of weeks ago because someone was hitting it with extremely intensive searches every second, which led to immense slowdown.

It took me some time to figure out this was what was happening, and during the process of elimination to find the cause I ended up wiping the search indexes and putting unforgiving search delays into place. I can now relax these and rebuild the indexes, which ironically enough will cause some slowdown but should improve things afterwards. I'll try to kick that off tonight when things are quieter.

I would have done this sooner but I've been abroad for the last 1.5 weeks.

Is that the reason why I can't find dick while searching even though I use the exact same words as the thread title?

Yeah, in essence the forum needs to crawl itself. I'm kicking off a quick crawl tonight so hopefully that will improve matters.

Cumbersome to go via someones profile to see if anyone has commented on a status update!

So is the black banner gradient removeable?

Yes, it's not super high on the priority list but I'll get round to it. Even small tweaks like that require testing on different screen sizes and platforms to make sure text is still readable, etc.

yus, also a lot of extra clicks. Just need a button that sets the "[img,]" tag automaticly so you can just ctrl+v in images

Yeah I'm not a fan of this instant result, makes too difficult writing a post imo. And I mean really clicking the cursor around pics etc. especially on mobile. Paddings are not very well thought in the template.

If there was a preview/thumbnail a-la facebook would be different.

I'm not a fan of javascript because as much as it's supposed to make stuff more responsive I find it usually tends to be the opposite. For instance when I change a page and it does the async reload in js I find it slower and more cumbersome than a reload. Also I know I should like that it dynamically positions my window to have the first post align with the top of my window but I don't like the jarring animation to do so. I think it would be better if it just warped me there.

I realize I'm dangerously to the "old man yells at cloud" attitude on this one so take it with a grain of salt

EDIT : Is there a way to go to a dedicated reply page rather than an inline format?

Not sure how this would be received, but (long term obv) what would the process be to implement a mapcore achievement system?

I guess in all honesty it would be like fps/gamebanana...

    It's temporarily disabled.

I see; hope they get restored soon :)

In another issue, I'm not getting emails when someone quotes or mentions me in a post. The "notification" and "email" are both checked in my settings and I double checked just to make sure. You quoted me here in this post but i did not get any email to notify me; only when I logged in i got the red notification (in the old mapcore system, i used to get email notification normally).

    Is this a bug?
