There's alot of background noise, but it's interesting to see their tools in action. I've always been curious what the workflow was like.

I remember watching this, definitely one of the more important topics to debate. Not strictly talking as a level designer either, I think in general everyone's tools should focus on letting you stay in the zone as much as possible.

    Found this very interesting.

Little extract: "let's make a game where you have 4 piles of cards from one deck, facing down; every pile contains an ace. Starting from first pile turn them until you find an ace, when you find it you have access to the second pile, etc. Sounds super fun? Anybody? This was game of the year last year! Mechanically this is Gone Home. This is environmental storytelling".

Judging from the audience response, sounds like this can be quite an eye opener for everyone.

Intuitively is stuff everybody knows, but when surfaced you can consciously apply the principles and come out with good stuff.

looking forward to see what he says about it.

*was thinking of re-installing it in the past couple weeks… just couldn't decide if to put it on the Xbox where I almost finished it, or start from scratch on the PC (where I also have DS2).

Cool stuff from one of the level designers who worked on Black Mesa, starts off a little basic but gets pretty interesting.
