Hey, it's my first time mapping ever and actually finishing it. I used to make maps for Halo way back in a previous lifetime, but never with source. My main focus was timings when designing this as I know 0 about level design, other than in CS:GO positional sounds are broken and the map shouldn't be too vertical.

I already plan on taking care of the openness of mid. Most of the time the T's if rushing can get to both sites within 9-14 seconds (14 being the longest but safest), CT's get there in 7-12 to both bombsites. The sky will be left open to create smoke zones (it was fun in first testing). I plan on adding a ton of detail later on (and lights lol). But I want to know what people think of this layout so far?

Things too know, I know there is no T spawn yet. The CT's is the one in the last image on the platform. I also have no idea where to put things like cover etc, I know from playing CS what feels good as cover and what feels bad but for creating it myself I have no idea.

Make sure you read all about optimisation now to save you headaches later.

From what I can immediately tell from the top down view of your layout, there doesn't seem to be any "play area" if you will. Lots of corridors / hallways / narrow paths that lead to more of the same, but no real rooms or bigger open spaces. Think about the setting of your map and why the terrorists would be there, and a lot of the logistics falls into place. I.E. Is it a facility in which the teams have to enter into after spawning from the outside?

I don't get an overarching theme or locale looking at your theme, which is often understandable when just grey boxed, but like I said above, it seems to be a lot of corridors connecting to other corridors at the minute and thusly I can't fathom what kind of locale this would be - or maybe I could, but it wouldn't be one that's fun to play in necessarily.

Keep going! Maybe sketch up some ideas and don't be afraid to start from scratch (not that I'm suggesting do that in this case!).

Thank's for the information, I'll let you know when I get further and upload more screens. I'm open to ideas. The 3rd picture is a laboratory with plenty of cover. The other bombsite hasn't been finished yet.
