    Who has them?

I had one a time ago. I was walking in a cs map. There was a bombside A and I got asked to map the bomb side B. The cool thing is I don't have to map in hammer lol

    It's more like god.

Since the spot for B was touching A I went for making a high building with multiple ways leading into the building. However, what was mapped before me was so perfect in angles and everything.

And I had one more mapping dream yesterday. I was putting several buildings together I mapped and making new connections etc. Adding height. And then walking in it and everything looked so nice.

The lightning was amazing with a perfect sunset.

Later I was flying in fast forward speed threw all places and by a lot of thing I saw I had thoughts like yeah I have to map that. And that...

Damn, can't wait to have my pc back...

I really hope Source 2 will be capable of making a city the size of GTA. I would love to make a city.

If you had cool mapping dreams then drop them here

I've never had a dream of me actually mapping, but I often draw a lot of inspiration from my more vivid dreams. Sometimes I'm inside a video game, other times I'm in some expansive world that I explore which feels very real. Usually when I wake up and remember it, the architecture, lighting, and tone of the overall dream can really inspire me since I felt inside that universe and lived it. As far as converting them to an actual source level, almost always they are completely stand-alone ideas that would only fit into a new game or mod with it's own universe, so the ideas never really flourish into real life. I keep a dream log when I have dreams like this so I can revisit them, and the ideas and feeling behind them come back to me. I remember colors and theme, but the actual detailed architecture I can never remember perfectly, and it doesn't come out right when I used to try to map them.

Most of my favorites are scifi dreams, and the best example of one that actually worked out is one I had years ago where I was actually inside some HL2 mod. I was in some underground research facility where there was a zombie outbreak, and I was with some assault squad that had to go through and find scientists to rescue. It was really cool because I remembered everything, all the rooms and corridors I entered, the general story etc. Over the course of the next few weeks I made a HL: Source level that resembled that exactly. I wanted to make it into a full mod, but didn't get very far. I have the entire intro mapped out, and the beginnings of the research facility. I was really proud of capturing the tone. Never got to the cooler actiony part. I still think it would be fun to make today, but that's just one of countless other ideas on the list.

Anyway yeah, dreams are a big inspiration for a lot of my creative work, because the feeling I get from actually being inside the world is more powerful than anything else. I dunno if anyone else feels the same, though I'm also a natural lucid dreamer so I think about dreams a lot sometimes.
