Not official, only heavily implied with just about everything in the event trailer, from the rio carneval drums to the logo
Weightlifting, football and track are all classics, with each character being perfectly thematically correct both to their individual design as well as home country. I think they did a good job!Didn't actually know that baseball had been at the olympics, so we might see baseball zen at some point then!

Yeah, Baseball was an Olympic sport as recently as 2008. They replaced it with golf in 2012, which is just kinda silly. Who the hell wants to watch Olympic golf? All the best golfers are pros, and pros can't take part in the Olympics, and it's a not a team sport. Baffling, imo. Good thing they're going back on that for 2020.
Not sure if it's just luck or w/e, but I've run into so many more people in comp who have a "main" hero and don't switch off lately. Tons and tons and tons of dedicated genjis (they seem to have replaced the constant Reapers for some reason?), but also people who play Bastion on both sides are really common.

I've made it to 63, now I'm down to 60!!

I'm making it my life's task to make it to 65, lol.

I was about 2-3 consecutive wins from 65. Now I'm 61. Eh what can you do, luck has not been on my side the past few days. Losing in overtime time after time is pretty frustrating honestly.
Might be able to reach 300 CP even if I don't reach 65 though. Haven't decided which golden weapon to buy, but I'm leaning towards Zarya or D'Va, even though I don't play them very often. Most DPS golds just look bland, except for perhaps reaper with his crow skin.
-
I say that and then proceed to win 6 in a row in a very convincing fashion as Zarya. She's so incredibly strong in pugs. Dream confirmed to be alive.
-
lol, are you soloing?

I occasionally get good teams set up and we roll well, but then it falls apart and I never see those new friends online again. Battlenet/Overwatch's inferface for grouping feels way worse than Steam's.

ITT: people soloing matchmaking, complaining about the inevitable negative experience.
Never solo queue team based competetive games, ofc you will get stomped if the other team have squaded up

Hero pick stats for ELeague week 3 qualifiers

Half of the hero roster is almost unused. Also sucks to be mercy or hanzo since they're not even touched.
-
Shocking IMO. Some of the most interesting heroes being totally disfavored. The game feels great in pubs, but you kinda hope something changes there.
Watching a Lucio play would be a lot duller than a Mercy, for instance. I'm fine with Bastion and Torb being rarer, but Hanzo? Mei? Widowmaker? Roadhog!? Pharah!!? As a spectator of course I want to see rockets flying everywhere and people getting hooked.

To be fair, even without nerfs and buffs, the meta evolves over time. Of course balancing has to do with that, but still, it's no different in DOTA 2 with the exception they have a lot more heroes, last years international was boring because the same 15 or so where picked constantly. This year isn't much different just with another 15 heroes, but at least they changed (mostly) Overwatch is in it's infancy for Esports, We'll see nice changes over time in hero picks and strats. Once the game has been out a few years, you'll be seeing the previous meta, current meta and evolving meta go head to head.

This, so much this. I think the game hasn't been out long enough to make an accurate call on this, and like Chris said the meta will change over time.
imho, roadhog and junkrat are some of the best classes for competitive and they're on the lower half of that list, that really amazes me.

Maybe I should put more qp time into McCree. I find aiming with him to be a lot more difficult than Soldier, but the pros seem to think he's roughly 100x better.

My most played hero is Zenyatta and I totally see why he's so common, though. Enormous damage output, healing, relatively small target, he's perfect.

Shocking that Mercy is completely unused. I know she's the weakest healer, but I figured the clutch value of revive would at least get a few token uses.
-
If i were to guess it's because Mercy is always the prime target of any encounter. She has her dodge, but usually when people see a mercy they all focus on her until she's dead, for obvious reasons.
At least when i play her, i find that I'm constantly getting shot at, way more than any other class, or if i play any other hero. Being the best healer, which she deffo is, kind of plays against her.

Ana can actually heal faster than her if she's accurate with her needle shots, incredibly. The most common hero that is hunting and murdering me as a healer, at my level of play, is Pharah, because she can fly over the heads of the frontline to shoot past them. She's really uncommon in that pro chart, though... huh. I'll see if I can find videos of some of these matches. Genji's the only really common flanker, and he's great in really skilled players' hands obv, but in my experience Symmetra actually hard counters him because he can't reflect or dodge her beam.
