Ok so let's just get this straight:
This is ok ? Are you trying to say this is the same as the trailer we just saw? I think we both know it isn't. No matter how hard you try to say they are the same, they are not the same.

CONTEXT! Seriously guys. How do you not understand context, GTA is not about murdering civilians even if you can. This game is solely about murdering civilians.
Absolutely. There is a huge difference between an open-ended game like GTA (or Dishonored since 3Dnj brought it up) where you can kill everyone if you so desire, and a game like Hatred where the ONLY way of playing is to kill innocent people because it's funny right lolz.
For the record, I've completed Dishonored without killing a single person.

You know, I have a huge dislike for Polygon but I think they're spot on here.

I dunno if the point is to make a statement against censorship and political correctness then it's not going far enough imo. It's trying to be offensive but without touching subject matters that will get peoples knickers in a bunch for real (unless the release date will coincide with some real life rampage). As such it is shallow and boring to me due to the lack of background story. It would help the game if there was more context to the protagonists motivations.

Well, pointing at SAW, I don't understand how people can watch this and how it's praised and put in all movie theater...
But it's off topic.

You mean Saw? The movies?
They're extremely gory, sure. But in a really twisted way the dude who's setting up all the traps is trying to help some individuals that he classifies as "helpess unless they face a life threatening situation". it's cheesy as fuck but at least there's some kind of explanation or reasoning on why you're seeing all that gore on screen.

I just freaking hope that you guys are aware of that thick line, and you know that I'm not a psychopath

Talking about context. You know absolutely nothing about the developers or people who'd like to play this game. To think they are inherently bad merely by looking at this trailer of A GAME, is narrow-minded and juvenile. You haven't met them, you haven't spoken to them, you know nothing about them.
And yeah, basicly this
-
They made a game glorifying genocide... uhhhhh yeah going to agree with Peris, its not my fault that my opinion of them is low, it's 100% their fault and they deserve it.
What's next, the official Al-Qaeda video game? ISIS adventures? Neo-Nazi fun-time? They need to take responsibility for the negativity they are putting out into the world. No one else is to blame for their antics.

Good for Epic. If this were my company, I'd try to revoke the license so they can't profit off of this game.

Well, I hope for them they have a plan B.
Zombie game ?

Can you rape the dead corpses of your victims in this game for a combo breaker bonus?
-
I think some of you are a bit too harsh on these guys. The one who didn't work on a game that at some point would have been considered a murder simulator should throw the first stone.
I would agree that perhaps they are a bit naive and immature about how they go about it. I don't see much value in the game in terms of social criticism of things that have unfolded in the gaming scene over the last couple years/months. People nowadays get offended by boobs and crotches in games not the violence. So ther's not really a point to take a stance for artistic freedom of depeicting violence.
What they should do is add a decent background story. Something like the first act from the 1936 film Fury where the protagonist seeks revenge on a town that falsely accused him of a crime and almost lynched him.

Sorry Chainsaw, you have rambled all over the place, making claims that ignore the context of the situation and claim censorship when no one is saying anything about censoring this. Most people are just saying this is pretty stupid.
If you are unable to understand the difference between what is shown in Natural Born Killers and what is going to be controlled in this game, then I am unable to enlighten you. You keep comparing movies to games and they are nothing alike. They are not comparable, one is you watching a narrative from a third person perspective another is you directly dictating what is being done.
