Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go record some more!

Fantastic. Haven’t done much in terms of mixtapes cos CDs became popular when I started listening to music, but before that I remember having lot of fun with my sis just spitballing and making shit up like mocking popular ads and injecting naughty words in them ?

Two months ago I became a dad for the first time. Mom was amazing and I can't be more proud of her and baby is doing really well. Sleep was hard at first but we're finally getting some kind of routine going and I'm getting maybe 4-6 hours of sleep at night which isn't bad and since I'm working from home it's not really an issue, no danger of me falling asleep at the wheel driving into the office!

We've also been in our house for a year now, decorated thoughout and had the garden completely redeveloped so we can spend time in it and our little one with have somewhere to play outside when he's older.

To top it all off I just got promoted to Assistant Lead Level Designer at Rebellion. I would never had imagined I'd get to a leadership role when I joined the industry just under 10 years ago and young me would never have thought I'd even get into the industry!

Fair to say I'm pretty happy with life at the moment... just wish I had a bit more time for some games ?

I was watching a psychiatrist talking about why we delay and postpone important things. It's all related to emotions and feelings down the road.

So I read the book "Ego is the enemy" and came to realize why I was able to read it without struggling to concentrate. Because I read it slowly. I never forced myself to read it all in one go.

Have you ever heard about "Divide and conquer"? Pretty sure everyone has. Why not use it in everyday life? You have an article of ten pages to read. Most of the time you delay reading it, you are doing it because reading is hard or the text's content is hard to grasp. Divide it, set a goal of spending 2 minutes reading ONE PAGE. Then read the next. Depending on the case you might want to subdivide the task in "READ HALF A PAGE" and then take your time to think about it.

Why is game development a complex process? Because it has so many pieces that you need to spread out the tasks in multiple areas at the same time. Everyone is doing a smaller task with the ultimate goal of completing the whole product.

I remember years ago when I was failing to complete any maps. What made me complete maps was that I began to make lists of tasks such as texture, pillars, water, lights, so on. Years and years later and I still have similar issues and they all relate to the lack of direction. I need to have a clear direction before I start a map. I can relate to a teacher who once told me that during her bachelor in astrophysics she had to make a plan to concentrate on what subjects she would take per semester without being overloaded.

This post motivated me to check how many tabs I have open on my phone. It’s 282, including Mapcore.

The limit for tabs on iOS seems to be 500.

Not sure how I’m supposed to sift through all this shit. Surely most stuff can be closed after reading the title, probably now irrelevant articles I opened “as bookmark”. A bunch of stuff is game-dev articles I was meant to archive.

Just like reading a book, I should force myself to spend a bit of time every evening…

Fucking goddam expat life. My passport expired during pandemic, and with all the development issues we have with our child, plus at some point losing my job, its renewal was the last thing on my mind. Dunno if the process is the same for other countries, but for an Italian passport you have to go in person to the embassy.

I've finally filled the forms and got new pics for the passport, I head over the portal to book an appointment and there's fuck all until end of March! These lazy fuckers have a mere 2 hour window you can book in every day for this sort of matters. I would be tempted to bet that I can get the British citizenship and passport quicker than that.

Haven't been back since Jan 2020 and was hoping to go back at least at the 2-year mark...

My friend from Denmark sent me a Danish flag in honor of Canada and Denmark now sharing a border (Look up "Hans Island" if you're out of the loop. It's an island that's now split between Canada and Denmark)

It's really nice, and so I attached it to my flagpole just for today. I just hope this doesn't mean my house belongs to the Danish now 😂

I've moved house once again and in my new location am rocking on a refurbished laptop. I just found out it is so underpowered it can't even run the CS2 dev tools... Crying a little on the inside.

I guess I'll stick to paint.net for the next couple of years.
