Only downside is the trains, left at half six tonight and got hit with delays going home, took me nearly two hours when it usually takes one.

Yeah commuting sucks but when you have an awesome job it's not so bad. My commute is about 1 hour 15 by car each way. Took me nearly 2 hours today though since there was a crash.

I guess the good thing about a train is you can get yourself a laptop and work on something if you can get a table! I've sometimes contemplated moving to the train (2 hours each way) and getting a laptop so I can work on a level or something.

Glad you're enjoying it though! Can you say what you're working on?

Definitely overtime is a killer, I always say that giving back time when company has downtime, doesn't really help because sustained overtime feel "longer" (the time it take to relax is much longer than the hours you will take back in downtime).

I didn't experience what you experienced but I have been this close to say "fuck you" to my boss, I would play Doom or music as loud as I could to make people around me aware I was angry, and went outside in the bin where we throw broken crockery to smash stuff up…

Totally agree with how long it actually takes to relax and regenerate. Longetivity burn tears you up good. Haha, I never had that anger with a boss. Man must be really hard. :D

I honestly prefer to stand on the train for the full hour each way, I'm sitting down for 9 hours at a time so I feel like I need it.

But yeah, I've been considering a laptop, although that'l have to wait a few months so I can afford a competent one. could slap some decent singleplayer games on it or just do a bit of random writing.

Gosh flight was shit, I won't ever recommend WestJet, seems the easy jet of the Atlantic. Hope the flight from Vancouver bawill be on a newer plan!

@Beck just curious, you talking about personal projects or work stuff? I would just be surprised the company would allow to work on their stuff in public for fear of leaks.

Guess depends what kind of trains you travel on, those that I normally get I wouldn't be able to use a mouse even on table seats… but there last few days I was on the hunt for a Surface I was wondering if Hammer works alright with pen input. Otherwise I see train good only for writing or coding; in uni times I've done some Photoshop with the touchpad, but level design seems so impractical that I'd just prefer to have a break after a full day of that, and rather study or read

I'm sure @[HP] will be shocked to hear me say this, but I wouldn't start with cookies man. It takes longer to feel the effect and it's difficult to get the amount right, especially for newcomers.

Yeah, it'd be personal work. Some people can work on internal projects outside the studio but if you said you wanted to work on them on the train I think they'd revoke your access right away! Working from home and stuff can be done under special circumstances, but obviously it's better if people are in the studio.

Yeah I doubt trains are great for modelling or level design but you could do some scripting, coding, writing, maybe even some texturing quite easily I reckon.

Only problem with this is that I don't smoke and wasn't able to inhale when I tried when younger…

anyway seems absurd that people can't drink in public, but "everybody" is smoking weed

Nah, I kind of agree, blackdog try a electronic vape maybe, they're pretty good. As for edibles, indeed it's really easy to fuck up the amount by either not eating enough or eating too much and forgetting which planet you're on. That said, nowadays edibles are fairly nicely labeled, start with 20mg and no more than that, for now anyway. Also, for edibles give it a good hour, they take a while to hit.

I used to be really against walkthroughs and guides. I considered it cheating and I despise that (unless you've finished the game and want to mess around). But the older I get the more I rely on them. I just don't have the patience or time anymore to be stuck in room for 10 minutes or spend an hour trying to beat a boss. I love a game like Bloodborne and I try to get as far on my own as possible, but eventually I keep my laptop handy because.....

I started relying on guides to get achievements, in particular on batman games. I got very far on my own, seeing something like "87/100 Riddles solved" was too annoying. Then in each game they increased the number of side-activities that I grow more impatient as well.

The bulk of the game though, the main story, is something I have been able to solve by myself. I'm pretty stubborn on these things and I can easily spend quite some time on a boss just to get through. I was very annoyed with Doom's since I had to put it down as I couldn't take it anymore, next time I play I manage to get through (in 20 min) and the game is finished.

For the past 7 weeks there's a cobweb on the left mirror of my car. Doesn't matter how many times I remove it or clean it with high pressured water, the next morning it's there again. I started admiring the spider's perseverance, so I decided not to remove it anymore. Now that it feels safe it dares to show itself. It's like having someone riding shotgun with me to work and back. I named it Arach since I don't know it's gender and we're friends now. Even gave it a bro fist this morning.

So I just came back from a 4 day trip to Montreal and wow. I know I might be in the romance period right now but Montreal is WAY better than Vancouver. Way more stuff to do, better community, rent is more than 50% cheaper and has tons of places available, food is cheaper and much better, they don't have stupid laws preventing you from opening a bar with arcade machines, transit system is way way way better, tons of sponsored art and theatrics all over the city, I could go on and on.

The only problem seems to be the -40 celsius winters. Unfortunately that's a pretty big caveat haha.

I should move to Canada. Sounds like Sweden but better.

Yo everyone, I've been working for almost two months now at Ubisoft Annecy and it's been really cool so far! The team is great, the project is cool, there are plenty of awesome stuff to produce, and Oh god! it feels good to be on a project with a strong creative direction and a proper workflow. The city is (expensive) very pretty, next to a lake and mountains. Plenty of activities to do here! Just need a bae and more money to have a perfect life ^^ I even tried canyoning, planing to the paraglide and that kind of stuff.

Btw, I'm currently working on this =>

Glad you're enjoying @TheOnlyDoubleF:) I think I already told you how jealous I am cos I noticed how beautiful town and area are. Best of luck with the job and maybe get a Hero camera so you can put together a reel of the adventures you will do around there

I reached vancouver after a 24h journey flying through Dallas, Seattle and then train up to BC... I was imagining to be more like this in terms of views/vistas :D but was still pretty and worth it. For the very little I could see, I love Seattle, how houses overlook the bay etc
