What's going on with your life?

I love dealing with customer service in a passive aggressive kinda way so I send them this. I wonder how they'll reply :)

Due to my recent move I've become victim of your Horizon digital cabal box. It's the only one you supply. In this house we refer to it as the poltergeist. This box, presumably originated from Dante's Inferno, is probably the most annoying piece of hardware I've ever had to deal with. In 50% of the cases, it won't even boot up. I have to physically remove the power cord at back of the device instead of the power outlet in order to get it to boot up. Even if it boots up, the whole process takes an average of 2 minutes. The menu is so slow and difficult to navigate that I find driving blindfolded in the city during rush hour easier to do. When I do finally manage to select a program to watch back, it actually never starts with the program I select. No, it start 3 minutes earlier so I'm forced to sit through even more commercials. Sure, fast forward you say. Well, I would, but the input is so slow that pressing play has an delay which forces me to rewind again. Sometimes though, I manage to actually watch something briefly before it gets interrupted, usually with the worst possible timing, with the notification that my viewing time has expired. I can't resume after that so I basically gave up on all these features and decided to watch regular TV instead. But even that seems impossible due to the amount of errors I'm getting.

Now, I've worked in this sector for 10 years. I know how to handle these things. But even with another Horizon box, I'm experiencing the same problems and I'm not the only one (I dare you to Google). I'm not even allowed to visit my in-laws anymore because I told them they should get one too (not knowing this of course). I'm stuck with you guys for a year so I can't flee. But please tell me I can send this demonic cable box back. I don't want anything in return. I just want it out of my house. I'll even pay for shipping. Now, this is not a threat, but I can guarantee you that one of these days I'll break and your Horizon box will plummet to it's death from my 10th floor balcony. Which leaves me with the bill. So where can I send it? I'd rather not watch TV at all then have that American engineering disaster in my house.

Passed Physics I. In here there was physics 0 in the first semester, then physics I in the following semester. Physics 0 being a pre requisite for Physics I. It was made this way to forcibly slow down physics so that students would catch up with vector algebra and calculus. After many many years, they decided to drop physics 0 and go back to the old way, physics I without having a pre requisite of physics 0. I did try physics 0 three times but failed all times.

In addition to dropping physics 0 from the curriculum there was a change in the way teachers teach, they've adopted some american method which replaces traditional lectures with a more modern approach. This and the fact that the exams were weigthed 50% of the final grade, the other 50% being homework, attendance and other activities, helped me pass.

I myself have finished handling algebra and general analysis for this year, and it feels good to have some time away from all that, so I feel your happiness, for it to be finished!

It's never finished, you'll have to deal with it for your whole life now, you must carry this burden !

I got a job at one of the biggest "yoga clothing" companies in the world... I'll be in their R&D department which is pretty exciting. As any other job, I of course haven't done an (official anyway) interview, submitted a portfolio or anything... It's just for 1 pretty small project, but it's a start for sure.

I can't remember what I wrote last time in here, but Vancouver is treating me pretty good. Great hiking, good food and the weather has been pretty sweet (except that it's really, really dry these days). Can't complain.

Yoga clothing R&D? Sounds like that could be quite excellent.

Glad you're enjoying your new city. I'm starting to tire of Nottingham and actually the UK in general now, so while I'm OK for the next year or so, I'm definitely starting to get that antsy feeling where I just want to impulsively move somewhere. After a recent holiday in Spain that doesn't seem too bad, but then there are all kinds of places in the EU and beyond I'd happily go. Lots of thought needed around that I think.

@laminutederire I think Greece is a little bit more desperate for help atm :P

surely yoga clothing R&D is going to involve a lot of booty in tight clothing? I can think of worse jobs...

Getting more and more responsabilities in the studio, managing gameplay elements, playtests ant QA testers, it begins to be very weary + Utralfow + my (starting) final year prototype + very hot weather... I've only slept 5 to 6 hours these last few nights (rather than my usual 8 to 9 hours that makes a big differences). I'm getting very exhausted this week. :gonk:

Keep pushing on and pull back on the unnecessary items as you can. Sleep is imperative for proper body functions and some people (such as myself) can easily operate on 5-6 hours of sleep a night whereas others need much more.

Started my new job as Community Development Intern 7 weeks ago, replaced the previous Director of the department and am managing the department. Not bad for a temporary intern that has never dealt with community planning, developer agreements (land), and viewed architectural and engineering plans in-depth before with a critical eye. Doing a lot of presentations to stakeholders and successfully replaced one of my assistants in lieu of retirement. Now if only I can get a games industry job! Apparently, my skills do not match those that companies are looking for. :?

Oh... and I have the engagement ring. . . :XD: Now for the proposal.

    Best wishes to you!

The company I'm working for opened up a new office in Frankfurt so I spend two hours in cramped trains per day and have less mapping time at home :(

I see lots of crytec staff though which is kind of cool.

YOU WILL. Of course your skills match to what the industry is looking for. Maybe you are not looking to the right studios that's all.

My parental leave has been over for about 3 weeks now and I've started a new job, still in Frankfurt, working on Star Citizen at the new Foundry 42 studio. We have quite a cool brand new office, and there's almost only ex-Crytek employees there so I'm not too estranged :)
