Thought I'd share something non-parental/relationship related. Basically (still waiting for specialist to look at it) broke my knee over a week ago (basketball). Have been walking and working on it. 1 week to go before a specialist sees it. Guess I have an excuse to sit on my butt and do nothing but gamedev/3d in the evenings now though! Yahoo!

late night again :X
It's not too bad though, I brought some good books and my vita for the breaks in work. Hell I considered just bringing a change of clothes, a towel and a sleeping bag at one point.
I need to find something outdoorsy to do this weekend.

wooooooo weekend!

I will be marrying my car shortly.

I'm at the Science Museum in London…
James Watt basically invented a hardware version of the 3D printer, can you fucking believe that??

(The machine would "scan" a sculpture with a hardware pointer and replicate it)

Started my monday jumping out of bed and simultaneously pulling my neck (permanent back injury from when I used to work in masonry). Now I get to walk around like the hunchback of notre dame in pain for the next few days.

Got 2 migraines in the last 4 days. I hate this motherfucking cocksucking shitalicious fucking shit. Maybe gotten a total of 100 or so during the last year and I'm at the end of the line here. I've always gotten migraines but it was always like once or twice A YEAR before my surgery. I just can't stand getting beaten down by this shitty shit. It's always the same, always the same shitty shit. Bam, start losing my vision all of a sudden, things go black and blurry. I now have 30 minutes of blurry shitty perception to contemplate the intense shitty pain that is on it's way like a shitty fucking train. Then 3 to 4 hours of intense pain in ONE fucking shitty spot which God surely must have declared to "fuck this part of your brain in particular". Then 1-2 days of feeling sore in the head like a prison-raped asshole and feeling like a groggy little shit. Fuck. Shit. Dick. Anus. Motherfucker.
Any migraine-sufferers here that can share some survival tactics?

Haha, sorry to laugh Puddy but the way you worded that was quite funny!
Really sorry to hear that you're still suffering with those migraines, mate. They sound pretty hardcore. What do you do during those migraines? Is it completely debilitating? I'm gonna sound like a bit of a hippy, and I'm sure you've already tried this, but I wonder if relaxing music or something may help?
Did your doctor give you any more info on what is causing these migraines?

I've been suffering from Migraines for years. Have you tried sumatriptan already? It did wonders for me. Everytime I feel like I might have a crisis I take a pill and it goes away in 30 minutes. My quality of life improved immensely after I started taking them since my previous medicine would only work 50% of the times and the side efects were pretty brutal. Sumatriptan works 90% of the time and I never feel any side-effects. (Damn, I sound like a spam bot)
Fun fact: I used to have maybe 3 to 6 crisis a month before I started using some green "migraine herbs" more regularly. These days I have maybe 1 crysis every 2 or 3 months. Definitely look into that if sumatriptan is not being enough, natural stuff usually works much better to prevent onsets, are cheaper and much safer

Most migraines are triggered by physiological factors such as chemical imbalances in the brain, an injury, lack of sleep etc... Music will only make it worse

The thing with migraines is to find out what triggers them and avoid them at all costs. For me the most frequent culprits are irregular sleep patterns, lack or too much sleep, greasy foods and some kinds of wine, but sometimes a lot of stress can also trigger a crisis.
Something I read on a migraine book once that fit me pretty well was that people who suffer from migraine usually have more sensitive senses. Sometimes a strong odor can trigger a migraine for me for example, so definitely avoid extreme odors, extreme brightness, extremely loud music etc...
Fun fact 2: I know I'm gonna have a crisis later in the day if when showering in the morning the smell of shampoo bothers me too much.

Fuck that sounds shit. Never had these motherfucking cunt migraines, but let me send a huge fuck lot of compassion shit for you dude. Take care of your fucking self.

Well, since I was gonna rant and feel sorry for myself I thought it best to write it in a more light manner PogoP.

It is completely debilitating, I just stay in a dark room for the entire duration (if possible). I do listen to some low-volume, low-intensity music to have some sort of distraction though. Well, my doctor says it's tied to my surgery and stress. Getting major heart surgery and having your ribs cracked open and healed twice does a number on you and it takes a while for the body to truly get back to normalcy. So, the theory is that my base "stress level" is higher and it is much easier for it to peak, or join forces with other factors to induce a migraine.

Don't think I've tried sumatriptan yet. I've tried the stuff that is supposedly one step stronger than that though and it didn't have much of an effect the times I've tried (which doesn't mean to say that sumatriptan will be of no use, it could possibly be more "compatible" with me). I will speak to my doc about it. How long does your attacks last and do you get crazy nautious? Do you get an Aura (blurred vision etc?).

My migraine evolved quite a bit since I had the first crisis when I was 17. That first crisis was no doubt the worst I ever had, I remember crying in pain thinking I was having an aneurysm lol. The first few crisis were pretty brutal since I couldn't stand any light at all (just like you now) and even the small light from the PC power button felt like needles in my eyes. I basically had to be in a dark quiet room for a few hours until I was good again. One day I made the mistake of going outside and I could barely keep my eyes open.
But then I stopped having auras and the pain became more manageable. These days I can even work with a bit of migraine or watch a bit of TV (games are completely out of question though
).I'm sure you will get better in the future, just keep trying different medicines until you find one that works for you. I had to try about 4 or 5 different formulas until I found sumatriptan. I hope it's something that will go away once you are completely recovered from the surgery, but even if it becomes chronic it won't get worse with time, so don't panic, you just have to learn to live with it and you will have a completely normal life

One good tip is to read a lot of about it so you understand better how to prevent the onsets.

Thanks Minos!

EDIT: You reminded me of my first one. I lost my vision completely, temporarily, and thought I was gonna die too (such fucking pain).

-
Wow, I've never had a migraine before so I don't really know what one feels like. People used to tell me it's like a bad headache but the way you guys are talking about it makes a lot more sense; it sounds horrible.
Fingers crossed you can get it sorted Puddy! Keep us posted
