I hope that the AI in this is a bit more human-like than Civ 5's one. I stopped playing Civ because once you reach a certain skill level the AI becomes very predictable. I think the last difficulty I was able to play was 6, which was pretty challenging at first because all the other CIVs had pretty good initial advantages, but once I caught up with them the challenge was gone. Seems like the higher the difficulty level the more artificial advantages the AI has instead of actually becoming more intelligent. It kind of feels like playing an FPS game against bots that cheat to be more challenging.

Don't get me wrong, the AI is fucking amazing in CIV 5 and saw some major improvements in the expansions, but I'd love to see a more organic behavior from them.

Also, some actual ingame shots here:

What struck me as a little weird in the trailer is that they pass earth off as this kind of lost hope because of all the pollution and stuff but in each shot that is taken over one of these huge cities you can see for miles and miles. Wheres the smog?

This is the future, maybe smog is no longer a problem but nanopollution is? Who knows, this is so far into the future nobody can tell what pollution really is anymore.

I love the trailer, but as a RTS, it quite loos all the vibe, I would love to see a fps in this setting though.

Loving this game~~~wasn't feeling it when I started playing it Friday evening tho, but after restarting my game Saturday morning (and then spending a following straight 14 hours playing it) then it really clicked.

It's definitely more Civ, but there's still a fair amount of changes and I really like most of the ones they've made, streamlining and adding stuff in clever places, such greatly simplifying and encouraging trade, limiting the number of unit types and adding XCOM like unit upgrade choices via affinity upgrades where it's actually difficult to pick one over the other. The miasma can be pretty damn annoying at first, but it does add an interesting additional layer of complexity, both in terms of combat and where to expand your colony. The tech web is incredibly confusing at first (I spent like 15 minutes just reading up on everything when I first started it up ), but it also feels like the kind of thing where you'll make a few mistakes on your first playthrough, and now after 20 hours I feel much more clear on which route to go depending on my overall strategy.

Also looks and sounds fantastic (though I'd almost say that the score is too epic sometimes ). Anyway, game fucking rocks!

Only been playing for a bit, so much new stuff to get into. Why do they have to obscure so much with new and fancy space names for everything. The learning curve would have been so much easier if you could relate some of the new stuff to the old civ games. The tech tree is a complete mess because of this, and I don't want to spend hours just reading up on stuff. Still feels like civ though so I will probably like it after a while

Yeah, it's pretty damn intimidating at first, but you just gotta power through it The tech web does feel like what it'd be like to play one of the regular Civ games for the first time for a person that had no knowledge of history either They probably could've worked on making a bit more user friendly. Though there are filters to help highlight certain tech, and there are advisor recommendations, then I doubt anyone will load it up for the first time and not be fairly confused by it.
