    The plot thickens

"It gets worse - Batman: Arkham Knight on PC lacks console visual features"

    No it isn't.

Why should it be accepted in any game then? Just because a machine is a console, it's not a free pass on playing smoothly.
Anyway the game can be easily unlocked changing a line of text so BIG DEAL.

I've amped up to 60fps myself at lunch time and game hasn't encountered any instability... still runs the same stable average 35fps, and it was noticeably faster, I would say close to 60fps (looked as fast as promo videos), in smaller areas.

It's still a really shitty pc port and even AC: Unity ran better than this, and jacking it up to 60 fps in the ini or whatever seems to cause much much more problems than they solve for a lot of people

It's not accepted though. Whenever a game has FPS locked on a PC version the internet goes crazy. It's accepted on the consoles since 9 times out of 10 the console can't even get any higher frames. If it is capable of getting higher frames I'm betting it's locked at 30 to make the dips to sub 30fps less noticeable and to make the game more stable. (A dip from 40 to 27 will be more noticeable than a dip from 30 to 27...)

Also, aren't a lot of people having massive stability and performance issues when unlocking the 30fps cap?

That's crazy. good to see they're addressing it though (even if it's post-release)

Shitty capped at 30fps isn't accepted anywhere unless you're in the console crowd and can't tell. And why the fuck should you have to go into the .ini file to unlock the dumbass cap. "stable average 35fps" lol. Stop it.

30 fps is disgusting for pc standards, a stable average fps is 60 minimum, one would think in 2015 this discussion would stop and people would push for 60 minimum

It's doing 35 fps on a notebook like I previously stated. And actually after more extensive roaming, I can say it's much faster on a much more widespread area, not only in contained places.

I wonder though if people complaining have all ideal requirements, or they bought it thinking of tweaking down.

Guys I'm not saying it's better or the same as 60fps, of course 60 would be the best thing for any gamer... just that it's better than dropping any other minute.

I've just started playing on a PC again a few months ago after years so I don't know how it compares to similar recent titles... there's a lot of stuff on the screen and it's an hacked up engine so I'm just impressed it's so stable on this machine.

Also I of course agree that core tweaks like FPS can find space on a Settings menu, I'm not a caveman, I'm just saying that PC gamers have fiddled with console commands or settings files since forever, so complaining in relation to this game seems over-complaining to me. I mean if I watch a review from Totalbiscuit I hear praises or complaints whether the game has or hasn't FOV and other amenities like if it has always been a standard setting to tweak... while it's something devs have started putting in the day before yesterday. What annoys me about all this is that PC gamers are feeling elitarian about this stuff, like if a console gamer might not feel dizzy with a certain FOV choice.

I dick around with .ini files and such for fun and modding. I shouldn't have to tweak them to acquire basic functionality that the developers were too lazy to include in the options screen. :) You KNOW the game is a massive fuck up when your publisher pulls it off of steam to fix.

    Well yeah, that's incredible.
On the other hand I appreciate WB that has done something like that, there have been other big fuckups, and companies never bothered.

    ~

Anyway, going back to the actual game... am I the only one playing it? Anyone at least on consoles?

I just got up and into to the Stagg airship.

    This stuff is n-power Batman.
I haven't mastered combat yet, with the several new additions, I don't understand if they removed some combos or they will be unlocked.

Yeah, but It's no "samaritan" move tho, they probably were forced to do it because of the influx of refund fees.

As for the game, I'll be playing it tomorrow on PS4! i'm sure it's a badass game. Any word on how fun the driving is?

I imagine they were forced into this because of pressure from Nvidia as this is a title that comes with a 980 and has lots of Nvidia graphics shiz that goes with the game. That's my bet.

Those that complain the loudest should be mad at themselves. Because if you haven't learned your lesson by now, how do you expect companies to change? Vote with your wallets people.

Back to the game. I have the original 3 on my Xbox 360 but since I won't be getting a Xbox One I'll probably get it eventually for my PS4. For me, this is a game that needs to be played with a controller and behind a big TV :)

Well Valve as well has to be pissed, as the refund process on this scale creates such an overhead on their part. Unless it's completely automated... still it must be a pain in the accounting process, since profits are not immediately accounted for, they are technically losing all the money from the PC version this month.

Regarding the game @(HP) and driving in particular, I am surprised of how fluid it is, so much stuff you can break through so really gives the feeling of driving the Tumbler Batmobile. I'd say drifting could be a bit better but maybe is a performance matter (I'm noticing that for me if the game drops, it does on those instances, especially U-turns).

More than that I love the way the dual-play of Batman-Batmobile has been implemented to solve Riddles or puzzles in general.

Voice acting and sound effects are stellar. I'm so glad they signed John Noble. And you are gonna have a surprise quite early in the game for another character ;) I think that in terms of narrative they have nailed it down with a sledgehammer.
I want to find out so bad who the Arkham Knight is, I hope is not gonna be a letdown.

Warner happily sent me a copy on PS4 (wooohooo they didn't opt for a Steam key. Guess they knew...) Anyway...

I've only played about 20 minutes of the game so far but my first reaction with the Batmobile is totally meh. Maybe I just need to get over the hump on it. Will play more tonight after rest of family goes to sleep...

I like the dual play with the Batmobile, the way you have to employ it for solving puzzles. Combat is not bat, I like it better than driving... but wait to get to the Firefly missions first.
