Yeah no, that's a false assumption. You assume they'd only put mines on their own soil, yet what they have essentially done is invaded a country already.

It's a false assumption that they'd be laying mines in Russia, therefore you must conclude they're laying mines in Poland (which is an invasion)... otherwise, I really don't understand what you're talking about.

Also, here's what's going on in Kaliningrad: http://gazetanews.pl/wiadomosc-21-r…e_i_niemcy.html

In short, russia putting up missiles for firing into Poland and Germany.

Official Poland betrayed Russia when allowed to place american rockets on the territory of Poland. Iskanders(tactical rockets) in the Kalilngrad just is answer.

    - Bad only for countries like Livia and Siria. Now only China can stop some dirty games in oil countries.

Crimea want to be free from a nazi banderas, Russia is better way on this moment. Western sanctions are irrelevant.

P.S. Keep your mind clean, look at the facts and not on the propaganda.

Pretty sure he's talking about Russia softly invading Ukraine.

Eh, I thought we were talking about Russia mining the border with Poland... idontknowwatsgoingon.jpg

Anyway, lettering on the parliament building has been fully changed already:

    [Blocked Image: http://i1.tatar-inform.ru/image/2014/02/27/krym.jpg]

Now reads "State Council of the Crimean Republic" in Russian.

Kiev authorities reported to be drawing up plans for Ukrainian soldiers to leave Crimea...

Murder apologist? Screw yourself, just because I don't view events through Black and white lenses doesn't make my comments any less relevant. How dire it would be if we all had the same moral take on things and high-fived each other for having the only opinion that matters like Dejavo said. The events on Instytutska Street are far from solved, yet the government seem to refuse to investigate what actually happened...

That's twice you've been trolling in this thread, contribute to the topic or get out please.

Apparently a major Ukrainian airbase in Crimea has been stormed by Russian forces and VV Spetsnaz. Shots fired and explosions heard, only one inury reported, no fatalities... yet.

I didn't understand why a lot of fuss was being made last week over there being a referendum within Ukraine to determine the citizens' feelings about what Crimea's fate should be — seemed like a sensible way to allow the people to have some influence.

Except then I learnt today that the only options they were allowed to vote for were 'join Russia' or 'become independent'. No option to remain part of Ukraine, lol.

This is just some really dark shit. It's become very clear that Russia wants Crimea no matter what, and it wouldn't surprise me if Russia has played a major part in causing all this shit to escalate. It now seems completely reasonable an idea that Russian snipers took shots during those protests to hurry things along. And Russia's continued presence in Ukraine is completely unacceptable.

A concern I saw expressed somewhere is that if Russia is now getting ballsy enough to take back things that were lost following a very lengthy Cold War, where does it stop? I don't like to see this kind of provocation because the world does not need even more Russia/West tension. If they even breathe in the direction of Poland we might as well start migrating to bunkers.

That's not right at all, though I'm not surprised it's regarded as such given the poor wording. The actual options were:

    A) Are you in favour of the reunification of Crimea with Russia as a subject of the Russian Federation?

    B) Are you in favour of restoring the 1992 Constitution and the status of Crimea as a part of Ukraine?

So A is join Russia, B remain as part of Ukraine retaining the same autonomy granted in 1992 after independence (no change). I don't exactly see that the referendum as legit but I believe if there were to be an international observed, free and fair poll, the majority would still vote to join RF. All this talk of voting under the barrel of a gun, there were elections held in Iraq in 2005 during a terrorist insurgency for crying out loud...

...really?! There were mass pro-Russian protests in Crimea against what was happening in Kiev long before the events in Instytutska Street. The majority Russians there have always long been opposed to the Ukrainian nationalism which is present in the current situation now. It's no surprise they reacted the way they did with the Western Bandera advocates gaining power. How does Russia benefit from having an anti-Russian, partly fascist regime coming to power in Ukraine? Just to get Crimea? I don't buy it... it's like saying US special forces were firing at protesters in Syria in order to start a conflict so they could get rid of a regime that supports Iran, it's tinfoil hat material...

Yet what can be done about it? Nothing. Crimea is effectively no longer controlled by Ukraine, by all intents and purposes it's under Russian control and they aren't going anywhere. If Putin was to break to Western pressure and withdraw troops, the Russians of Crimea and his homeland would be demonstrating in uproar and see it as a betrayal. I didn't support what happened and I still don't but it is what it is. We need to think very carefully about what sanctions we set on Russia because they can hit back hard, like stopping all NATO supplies going through Russia for ISAF. Is Crimea worth it? I don't think so...

If Russia moves into East/South Ukraine, that's another story...
