I had a lot of time to save up for the CE. Do you think this will cover it?

Anyone playing Fallout Shelter? I installed it cos my girlfriend is into The Simpsons (and now Family Guy), so thought she'd like it and i was right.
I tried it myself out of curiosity and I'm a bit ashamed to say that I'm enjoying it tapping and assigning tasks… although I would say the UI could be ugely improved, as checking stats of dwellers is a laborious task, and assigning workplaces as well.
-
Yeah, I put about 45 minutes into it. It's ok, but i'm really not into mobile games anymore tbh...
-
I've got an Android so not had chance to play it yet since it's not released on the platform. A lot of people seem to be enjoying it though, is it still beating Candy Crush on the chart (I doubt it)?
Still pretty impressive it even got that high!
-
Have no idea how it compares to other games, I wouldn't think it can beat Candy on the long run… and what chart we talking about? Most downloads? Because app store bumps up growing titles (our shitty game got in the top 50 above Mirror's Edge and other big titles at the time, not that made us any money anyway).
When it comes for Android my gf is likely to play it, me like HP I'm not into mobile games, I keep downloading and trying a few things but I used to spend more time in the past. Like my toilet time was Cut The Rope time

-
It doesn't run on the Girlfriends Ipad.

I like Fallout Shelter. Been playing it since it was released. I'm not expanding too fast in terms of the amount of dwellers and I'm gonna take sweet time to train them with whatever rooms I have available. UI could indeed use some love. Right now, two dwellers could end up in same spot during a fight and one of them might run out of health because I can't select him/her behind the other one for healing.
FO:S is great game though. They have some of the citybuilder/tinytower mechanics fit nicely to the Fallout's theme. Also, it's not a money grab at all so far. The possibility for IAP is actually quite hidden and it's "gambling". Random decks of cards (resources, dwellers, items).
-
Still waiting for fallout shelter to be released on android...

How big you got @SotaPoika? I just reached 26 dwellers with the latest newborns. After the (scripted?) beginning, haven't gotten any dweller from outside, have the radio up since yesterday but still no one showed up... I'm not completely sure, do tasks run in background? Or if the game is closed?
Also not sure how the health works... got to a very low 10% of happiness for everyone although they were all 50% healthy... then I noticed the red bars and slowly administering radpack to everyone, happiness was quickly back up. They are asking for party now...
You sure about skilling up by work? Because I have some people in the power stations for days and strength is still the same... built the weight room and buffing up some guys, I'm trying to create a couple of "heroes" since they joined/born with good stats. I really need a few extra guys to put on defense, cos I got some raids and they are always a pain to chase through rooms.
Speaking of defense, when anyone will try the task of sending 3 dwellers out exploring, send people without guns, I have the feeling there's a scripted event that will have you assaulted -- I got raiders with friggin' guns, luckily I still had two rifles in the inventory had stopped the bleeding. But the explorers even if they just had gone out, they can't come back in during a raid!

My Vault 717 holds 38 dwellers at the moment. I get new ones occasionally because of my Radio Station (lvl 2) with two dwellers in nightwear (for that +3 charisma). And tasks (I assume you mean the timers?) do run in the background.
As far as I know, health is tied to happiness and radiation sickness. The more radiated you are, less health your dweller has (and can't be healed past the radiation point) and thus is less happy.
By skilling up I mean't that I have all the possible variations of training rooms (so far STR, PER, END, INT, AGL) and keep dwellers there as much as possible (occasionally switching them around and assigning to jobs if running out of some resources). Have to remember to boot up the game to "collect" the skills dwellers got every hour or so, as it won't continue leveling up before the latest level is acknowledged. Also, one dweller with at least 4+ on those stats lasts way longer in wasteland than just the regular one from the beginning.
For the defense, I have 2 dwellers in Power Station (located right under Vault's entrance) with good guns and stats. I send them to the entrance room whenever I'm being attacked. After the entrance room, there's Cafeteria with 2 dwellers with good guns and average stats and nearby is another Power Station with 2 dwellers with good guns and stats, whom I send to the Cafeteria when being under attack. Raiders don't get past the Cafeteria. Actually only one of them makes it there from the entrance and dies within first seconds in the Cafeteria.
If you're under attack, the ones outside the vault will flee behind nearby rock until you've solved the situation at the vault, this includes your explorers and new dwellers.
My best weapons so far are: Tuned Plasma Pistol, Rusty Laser Rifle, Armor Piercing Sniper Rifle, Shotgun and Armor Piercing Hunting Rifle. Then some Laser Pistols and rest are some shit guns.
Here's my Vault 717 so far:

Wow you got shitloads @SotaPoika!
Last night I had a new batch of kids so I was low on food, a natural disaster happened, radroaches attacked diner and then spread, in a minute half dwellers died!!! (Guess they starved.)
I'm trying to see if I can straighten up the situation, but I started a new one and got lucky: got several good weapons (like you plasma pistol, armour piercing rifle) and even a special guy…

@SotaPoika do you go for training your dwellers to be all rounders, or you go with highly specialised guys? Not sure if going on training for everything can payback… other than having something to do like I've been doing the last couple days, when I got enough people to be able to build training rooms.
got a lucky card with Three Dog, a uber charismatic, strong and agile guy, been using a lot in the radio and compensate in the supply shortages.
just revived my favourite explorer dweller, the lady I keep sending out… it started because she has low skills but she always find good stuff… I had to revive her as although she barely found enough caps to still profit from her revival… she had found the Armor Piercing Sniper Rifle!!
What I don't understand, seems like when my people came back with new outfits, I haven't always got those in the inventory 0.o

I can't believe they left android out like this... Stupid move.
It's due in a "few months" :?

I train them to be all rounders, because then I can switch them around without problem from room to room and basically send anyone to wasteland if needed. Now by average they have 7 points in each skill, except luck (because I don't have Game Room yet). Having better skills also makes the dweller survive better in wasteland and then, I can also make him/her wear "Lucky Formal Wear", so basically all his/her stats are around 7-8.
Not sure about the outfit thing. Mine always come back with the one I sent them with. Gun changes to a better one though and then I can give the last one to someone else.

On iOS people are usually more willing to spend money on F2P titles. Also, it's easier to optimize and work on game with rather restricted platform than one with million devices, each with their own hardware.
-
Right, since I managed to get the rooms for strength, agility and perception in one day, I was starting to try to level up people with one-two high stats… but I was wondering if is a waste of time.
at the moment I'm sending to wasteland the newbies, if they die I don't care, but often they find something useful so cheap win

the outfit I mean that they find new outfits, and I had the impression they weren't then available in the inventory.
-
@SotaPoika can confirm that the game loses outfits when dwellers come back!! ?
i had my favourite scavenger collecting 3 outfits and a weapon, one of the outfits was a unique "formal suit" or something, +3 luck! And I don't have it in the storage, although I have slots!

Fuuu I wanna try Shelter but my stuipd 4 won't run it. Any way to get it to run on PC that doesn't include mirroring? Since that doesn't work either...

Ask Bethesda to compile you a PC build?
Really though, you're shit out of luck if your device can't run it. Mirroring (I assume you mean through Airplay) means it's just streaming the feed from the device, not making it run on TV/monitor of your choice.
