Hi guys, we just launched a Kickstarter campaign for Pirates of New Horizons! That means that we need your help to make this possible. We want to make the BEST pirate space adventure for mobile devices and your pledges are needed for this.

For those not familiar with the game, Pirates of New Horizons is a 3D Action Platformer about looting, pillaging, and a flying cat. It allows you to explore an epic adventure tailored for a snack-sized mobile game experience on your iOS or Android device.

Please spread the word to all of your friends, family, and any news outlets that might be interested. Also please let us know if you have any feedback.

For more background information we have a website and an old Mapcore thread.

I'm delighted to see this return and have pimped it on Facebook and Twitter. The funding period seems kind of tight though, a lot of people might want to wait until their next pay day before backing (which could partially explain why some campaigns do very well in the final days) and at least in the UK that's usually 28th–10th. If it's not too late to extend it to a full month it might be worthwhile. Still, backing it right now.

Congratulations on the re-launch! I helped spread the word on Twitter as well. Wishing you the best.

    pledged!

Why only 16 days? Shouldn't you have the full 30?

Thanks guys! We had planned on launching with a 30 day campaign length but ended up with settling on a campaign with a length of 22 days. Kickstarter recommends 30 days or less to encourage a sense of urgency, so we figured that a little over 3 weeks would be good and also it would make sense to end on the 1st of December. Additionally there were some team considerations behind, some of the team members have committed themselves full time (despite the lack of pay) during the past months but there was a limit to how long we could keep on running like that.

Any plans on returning to the PC version? (Also, I have totes backed this).

We would love to return to the PC version but atm the budget for finishing that one is around $250k so it is quite a heavy investment of resources that we currently do not have available. We sent it into hibernation last year after running out of funds and while I since then have done various attempts at finding a solution then this has not been possible. So currently our best bet for more PoNH is a smaller scoped mobile edition of the game.

A week left to back the project! We really appreciate those of you who have backed us already!

In case you for some reason do not want to back the project we would really appreciate if you spend 2 minutes answering two questions:

Just saw that in my backer email, omg so touching.

Get out your wallets everyone! I did tip Kotaku, Destructoid, and Joystiq about this too (as well as posted it on the MapCore Facebook and Twitter). For whatever reason those gaming sites won't post it, yet some of the bullshit they do post about toilets in Japan or whatever the fuck...

Yeh not easy to get exposure on big outlets. Anyway you could try RPS most of the funds for Dark Matter came from their visitors.

Hope you guys make it. Game looks awesome!

I guess it's cos it's mobile? A lot of news outlets don't support mobile Then again, I'd be a hypocrite to say I'm excited about this game for that exact same reason, I don't own a tablet nor play on my phone.

That being said, I really hope you guys make it! It looks really cool! Best of luck!

Which sites have threads about this game?

I already asked on Facebook, but is it posted on Reddit?

Do any Mapcoreans have contacts at gamesites?

Can we submit news at huge gamesites?

Is there a way for the Mapcore Steamgroup to promote it?

What about pirate fan sites? Any place which attracts fans of this theme?

Couldn't we do a feature article about the game for Mapcore and spread that?

In short, what can we do to help?

I thought about it, read the entire thread again and the best I could do was to submit it as news to the 3 biggest communities in the Benelux. Namely Gamer.nl, Insidegamer.nl and Tweakers.net. Let's hope that at least one of them runs it.

Backed this! Shared it to my facebook and social medias (you know, it might bounce around and reach more people ). What you guys are doing is what i'd like to one day try: set up my own thing with my friend and make a game we'd love to play. Keep on rocking !

I did a new post on Reddit and posted it on me and my wife's Facebook. To no avail. With 75 minutes left I don't have high hopes. We need a miracle!
