Oh cool, I have friends in cognitive science saying the opposite. What gives? Maybe it's because the argument doesn't fucking hold up without sources?

You also seem to have tunnel vision in that you only see one solution to this, rather than seeing that science is convergent, and that most solutions can be reached in different ways. Nowhere did I say or even hint at that a mind equals a complex modern computer with AI, I don't know how you come up with this. Scanning and recreating a brain by "copying" elements of an already existing brain does not even necessitate a computer more complex than being able to visualize and print its molecular structures.

PS: My argument didn't change the slightest. It is still within 50 years we get enough longevity to see eternal life. Your arguments on the other hand, consist of strawmen and ad hominem. If trolling, then consider me rused.

"I’m a neuroscience postdoc at Boston University. I study the expression and modulation of emotion in neural circuits that center on the amygdala"

Literally took 1 sec of googling to find someone in the field saying this is unlikely if not impossible. Again. You literally don't understand or flat out are ignoring how complex a mind is and little we understand the mind.

Also what arguments or sources? You have listed none. Using that argument to refute me, refutes yourself.

I also noticed you said "but we WILL have commercial nanobots by 2060" as if nanobots are somehow a singular thing that does everything. We probably will have some form of commercial nanobot by 2060. That does not mean we will be able to beat every disease or replicate every type of cell.

Here is how insanely complicated 1 single type of cell is

The best at the moment we can create are incredibly simple motor functions with nanites. You seem to be under some kind of impression that all at once we will be able to replace the entire human body. Which isn't remotely what will happen. What will happen is we will create a few nanites that serve very specific simple functions. Things like HIV killing nanites. That isn't going to allow us to prevent the aging of the human body and the gradual death/breakdown of all cells.

Oh man, I started a sweet tangent Will robots give us eternal life? Unclear, but I don't want to be the guy betting against technology. Also, I went to gym yesterday, because it's probably not smart to wait around for nano bots.

That was an awesome vid Vilham.

You're missing the point entirely, or rather, you're not seeing the entire picture. This is what will happen in the next 5 or 10 years, not the next 50. You assuming that technology by the year 2060 isn't going to be adequate enough is basically the most arrogant thing ever, as you imply that you know what's going to happen by then. Not even the best scientists can predict how far our research will take us by then, what makes you so sure you know? Even what I say is mostly just an analytic extrapolation of what has been going on previously and what's going on now.

You also seem to have an extremely myopic view of what's feasible and what's not, and what is necessary to know before processes like e.g. replication have to take place. You DON'T NEED to know the complex processes of the brain in order to mimic its structure, especially not if you have a live brain to follow by example. If you wanted to translate every single process of the mind into computational equations, yes, you would need that. But for replication, this isn't even a point worth mentioning. Look up the connectome project, and connectomes in general. Here's two links (literally one second of googling, mentioned in my first fucking reply):

    http://www.humanconnectomeproject.org/

    http://www.humanconnectomeproject.org/%C2%A0http://e…wiki/Connectome

Completely disregarding convergent scientific research will get you nowhere, as by the same year we might have cultivated artificial stem cells or similar which will be inserted (or created) by nanobots. Science isn't following one specific direction for its research, and its true strength lies in how the branches interact and CONVERGE with each other.

You should take a good, hard look at your own arguments (or lack thereof) if you think ANY of your arguments refute mine, or if you think mine refute my own. I'd also advise you to change your attitude in a discussion, because you bring less than the bare minimum to the table currently.

I still can't understand how you come up with this stuff. You literally just refuted your own argument... If I can't predict how far research will take us. Then neither can you. Your 50 year claim is in your opinion as invalid as mine.

"DON'T NEED to know the complex processes of the brain in order to mimic its structure" You literally do not know that, because we as a race, have no idea how a brain truely works. You are repeatedly falling into this claim of computing power will override all other problems. It is flat out wrong. I mean did you even check that site. They aren't studying anything other than activity in regions of the brain. Not how consciousness actually works. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind

Well done, you figured out scientists are researching multiple areas of science. And... this in no way supports any of your claims.

" I'd also advise you to change your attitude in a discussion, because you bring less than the bare minimum to the table currently."

O cut your pretentious bullshit. Like you have properly supported any of your claims.

Anyway, I've had my fun, no need to keep derailing this thread. You keep your futurism pipe dreams if they keep you happy. We will see in 50 years...

Do all those protein shit you have before/after training make you… shit a lot?

Almost every time j go at the gym one of the toilets is unusable because someone taking ginormous dumps in there. And I'm not talking of size/quantity, it's clearly the kind of dump a person that is not feeling well makes.

Sorry for the nice depiction I created just before your teabreak.

Yeah extra protein in the form of shakes normally adds a deuce or two.

Increased protein intake, until your body has adjusted to it, will keep your colon on its toes. But I've been downing shakes for years so my body is accustomed to it and I don't have the shits anymore.

Now, if I happen to go out to eat for some reason, which 99% of the time I don't do, that can bring it back...
