Not necessarily gym-related, but I've been using an app for the past 11 days called Fitocracy Macros and it's seriously transformed how I eat.

I've used calorie counting apps before but never really had much success with them. The key here is you can't actually enter calories, you have to enter grams of proteins, carbs, and fats. Also, you have to actually find the amounts yourself (i.e. through the web or on the packets). It's almost like a game finding the right food to hit the targets while not exceeding the limits, lol. So for the first time in my entire life I've been properly thinking about how much nutrition is in everything.

I didn't even realise how many carbs were hidden away in things like Coke, coffee, tea, etc. Also I find I can eat so much more meat compared to the pasta, bread, etc I usually eat and be a lot more full. Of course I still consume carbs, but I practically hit the limit the app recommends for my weight and workout frequency just from drinks alone. It's nice to have something telling me how much of each component I should eat rather than just guessing it.

I've lost just over seven pounds in the past 11 days, but I think that will (and should) slow down now the 'beginner's bonus' is over from water retention, etc. The main thing is this has given me a much better understanding of how to eat better and I'm genuinely more energised and full all day from doing this.

Combined with doing weights (it increases my nutrition on workout days) I'm hoping I will end up looking much better in 3–6 months. Which will be useful considering that I'm recently single, LOL.

And yes about 3-4 pound you've lost is just water but yes - controling your income through the day is the key to success, look at me i need to eat almoast 5 000 kcal per day man - this is fucking annoyng as shieet

And to all you bodybuilders out there i've got my small FP https://www.facebook.com/iifym.gym when i put some stupid stuff mixed with really cool articles about dieting and shit about gym so if you want to learn a lil bit more, like that bitch !

Joined the gym* monday, tbh I did it just because I was asked to by a girl i fancy. Last night we've been there for our first visit, more to get acquainted with the facilities than working out.

Today at lunch time we have the MOT assessment, we should also get a routine i guess. Curious if they can give some dietary guidelines... but I know myself i shouldn't get a long drink after a workout, especially if it has an energy mixer in it that keeps me up until fucking 6am. And they recommend a "good night sleep" before the assessment, lol.

My take on people starting to do GYM is that, if you really want to change how you look, you will learn all the shit you need by yourself, cause the theory is very important (training and dietery) !

That it great people start to workout, but 90% of peapole i see in the gym are know shit about what and how to do.

If you have some questions ask here, maybe some of us can help you and guide you

I do agree completely, that's how things should be of course. Thing is I don't feel the need to change, i don't want to get bulky; i'm perfectly fit and since i started this work (which is physical) i'm even more, only thing i can/would improve is to burn the last remaining body fat and show off a six-pack (of which there's a light trace already). Maybe increase the mass by a very small amount, just enough to show off.

More importantly though, i should instead take advantage of the gym to regularly do the exercises i've been given by a therapist to correct my posture problem (slight torsion of the upper body to the left - i'm sure caused by staying at the computer all this time all these years) which caused me to stop jogging

I've been trying out Crossfit for like a week now, and it seems pretty good. Has anyone else have had any experiences with it? Good? Bad? I'm definitely thinking of enrolling.

Still running. Was able to run the 5km in 21:50 now which is about 1:40 faster than back in August! I hope I can make it sub 20 minutes but I think I'll need to start running twice a week otherwise I might just end up killing myself. :/

seems the kind of programs they have adopted for most of the movies where they need sculpted bodies. I'd love something like that (except for the massive barebells), i'm pretty sure nobody does this kind of thing in small towns, i'm pretty sure in London someone does.

    Edit: lol, love this

gimme a photo i will tell ya - lol there are ways you can do it, but are not the bestI'll get them to measure properly, but i'm just curious to know how you'd do that. Here's the data from the assessment:

    height 176,8cm - 5.9

    weight 72kg (!)

    body mass index 23.2

    waist-to-hip ratio 0.82

and the guy said i'm super great on cholesterol with 4.16 mmol/L

and considering my blood presure and glucose were totally screwed because the night before i didn't sleep at all having drunk an energy drink and eaten cake in the morning to get warm, i scored 74 which he said is anyway in the top 30% of Britons.

Well been working out steadily for about 6 weeks now. Funny thing is in the first 4 weeks I lost 25lb and there was no visual difference. In the last 2 (including one week which had my birthday and resulted in a lot of junk food being eaten) weeks I lost no weight but was also the first time that there was a visual difference.

Just goes to show weight should not be the only way to track progress.
