Looks like no ideas for game design except Borderlands.
Those screenshots look amazing! Not due to the content per se, but how modern it looks and still manages to really captivate the original.
No surprise the Gearbox execs wouldn't let this out anywhere as it'd shit all over DNF. Very frustrating as I was really interested in playing this. And now that Gearbox have the Homeworld license I sure hope they don't drop the ball again with that. Borderlands 1 and 2 are good games but you can't ride on those forever.
Just roll it into a new franchise and let Duke die.
yeah as someone who has no interest in borderlands this doesn't exactly raise my respect for gearbox. not to sound gleeful about it, but I see that studio having some real difficulties in the future.
When looking on Borderlands 2 sales the studio will survive for a moment but maybe not in that squad.
Still there are some nice memories from the past from Gearbox:
- Blueshift
- Opposing Force
- THIS
Don't forget Brothers In Arms was really well put together, then they sacrificed it on the altar of casualness.
I'm curious to see what they are doing with the BiA+Inglorious Basterds game.
Weird twist, Gearbox have turned round and said that actually they can continue making it and release it non-commercially if they want:

Ball's back in your court Sentura! I mean, Interceptor.
please release this immediately
Kind of sucks to potentially put so much work in and not be able to get any money from it, though. Even if it is a passion project, that's a tall order for a small studio...
It should be noted that there might be other versions of this story. The Danish games industry is a tight community but nobody seem to know this Frederick guy and his team also seems to be entirely composed of inexperienced developers. While there is nothing wrong with that, it does raise a flag in terms of credibility when he comes out with very big words.

So basically this guy is taking other peoples licences and attempting to make money off them?
QuoteSchreiber is now working on an updated version of Rise of the Triad
This has literally just been done and what right does he think he has to take that IP and do that anyway?

If you read the article, it says non-commercial license. As in, it was to be a full conversion type mod released for free (also explicitly stated in the article). As for Rise of the Triad, Apogee has had the license for a number of years, which is why they decided to market it in the first place. Neither of these licenses have been infringed upon or otherwise treated unlawfully, regardless of what people think/assume/hear rumors about.
Yeah I admit to not reading much of the article because there is something about that site that hurts my eyes. I was going off thriks comment. My bad.
Also didn't realise that interceptor were the devs of rise of the triad (which raises the question why were a proper dev studio were working on a free version of duke?)
Yeah right. Wait until Spiderman hears about this.
So, Gearbox is seeking a developer to collaborate with for a new Duke Nukem. Apparently some concept work has already been done. You can read it here. That's nice and all, but what I read is this:
Quote"We want to be able to blame someone else if things don't turn out well. It's physically and mentally impossible for us to admit guilt and we'll lie our asses off if it means more sales, regardless in what state our product is".
No thank you Randy, why don't you ask your last partner TimeGate studios? Oh wait, you killed them....
