What @dux said.
This season has been a massive let down. After the initial excitement of a new episode is gone and I think about what happened I'm just left facepalming. I wish the books were finished so D&D could have just copied what was in them and given us an awesome TV series to go with the books.

On the big things mentioned above I have been very disappointed, but I’m somewhat not as angry and I dunno why. Maybe watching TWD has numbed me down.
For as bad as certain aspects are, I keep thinking that at least feels better than last season, when they were globetrotting and basically time travelling around to speed up things the way they did. At least now everything is following a (somewhat) logical sequence.
I think the only thing that was really tilting me was the Last of the Starks gathering and not seeing Sansa’s reaction. (Same we haven’t seen her then discuss with Tyrion.) Also I get really annoyed that the characters have started to address Daenarys as “Danny”, that never happened before and seems just fan-service to follow the memes.
Im not sour at all that Jon not only knows nothing, but also does nothing. Yes he’s been always referred to as The One, but the show never developed him as such. His character never fucking learns anything, he keeps doing the same mistakes, and he doesn’t as well do anything really heroic*. But in this it’s at least a constant, I don’t like it, but at least I can explain it by seeing Jon as “too good at heart” and that’s why he keeps hammering his own testicles.
*The highest moment he had was the Battle of the Bastards.

Gota be honest though, A Dance with Dragons was not a good book. The decline of the show is consistent with the decline of the books.

Can’t say I’m really happy about how’s going, but today was another hilarious day of wannabe writers manifesting their disdain for the show runners on social media.
That Daenarys was a (benevolent) tyrant was clear from the beginning, and that she
Spoiler would flip
was quite the given, considering her family past. I mean, what better Chekhov’s gun than all those stories about the Mad King wanting to “burn them all”? They had to pay it off. Also Varys had a line about how Westerosi would “flip a coin” every Targaryen king…

Yeah but she's never burnt innocents. She's always harped on about being the breaker of chains and freeing people from tyranny and then she goes and one ups her dad and actually burns everyone in the city.
I'm not happy with this season, everything feels super rushed and not much of it makes sense. So many character arcs have just been disregarded or fizzled out. I'm not claiming to be a writer or anything, I can't write for shit, but there's been a noticeable change since they ran out of book material.

Quoting a friend from Facebook: She destroyed Quarth, in Mereen she kills all the fathers/head of families without any due trial (for as corrupted you can’t say ALL men were terrible), she kills a traitor (fine)… and his prostitute/slave by locking them in a trunk, Kal Drogo promises to destroy Westeros for her and she’s very happy, likewise when she rounds up the Dothraki to go over the sea, she doesn’t use the “democracy” argument.
A tyrant is a tyrant, even if benevolent, they always on the razor edge.
I did find a bit extreme burning the city, but I think her portrayal was pushed to hint that, before the “ill use fear”. I think in her eyes the people she burnt were criminals to support the Lannisters and not rebel(?). She also looked very paranoid and I thought Tyron’s head would roll in the first episode really.
All of this not to justify or say the writing is amazing, like I said I’m not happy, but I think the previous season was worse.
Also not sure how much the lack of source material is to blame, the fact that books are not coming out makes me think Martin is quite involved in deciding where things are going, I mean we know the book ending will be different and how can you ensure that if you don’t discuss how to evolve the story and hit certain beats. Also Martin has publicly complained of fan theories being actually true so he changed stuff. That can’t be good for narrative, not only he had to come up with one new ending but two lol
I'm kinda at peace with it, other shows I follow are at the top right now

I haven't watched the final episode yet. I don't really want to, but I'm committed to seeing this shit fest through. Expect to see me back in this thread later on having a fucking shit fit no doubt.

I quite enjoyed the last ep. You can tell Martin had more of a hand in it. It was rushed as fuck though, which was a shame. I wish this entire season was cut into 2 separate seasons. One season about the NK, the other about Dany and the siege of King's Landing + wrapping up.

I don’t see how they could end such a show in a satisfactory way, unless they ended on a massive cliffhanger. I don’t see a way that would have made all fans happy. I’m also convinced that with Martin still writing the books, he had to keep the ideal ending for himself*.
I dunno, I don’t feel I was that into this season, I think I checked out in S7, in which I already stopped being really emotionally involved. This way I only watched for the spectacle, of which there was plenty.
There are so many dumb things that went on, like how they decided for the new king ? but overall if not happy I’m at peace. I could never like Jon as much as others, he was a very passive hero in my eyes, so his ending seems fitting.
Spoiler It actually wraps back to where it started so GG.
These aspects sort of trample the cringe of the politically correct content.
*Arghable, since nowhere near as many people will read the books as viewers, but still probably the best marketing move for him.

Well that was crap.
