A Game of Thrones

    Spoiler I think they are fooling us with Arya. Everytime she fought the Waif on the stairs, no one looked or intervened. Now she got stabbed, again nothing. It wasn't until she was alone again and bleeding that people reacted. On top of that, she acted all happy and boss like arranging a ship and what not. That's not the Arya we have come to know. Also, where was Needle? I think we're dealing with a Fight Club scenario here. The Waif is actually Arya's Tyler Durden. She has to kill herself, to truly become No One. I think Arya will die, we'll be shocked and then the Waif reports it to Jaqen, he will asked who she is and she'll remove the face, reveal Arya and say No One. Mind Fucking Blown!

    Yes definitely afraid of spoilers. Also this season has been pretty slow a lot of the time IMO, I've noticed that even at work we've been less excitedly discussing new episodes because there haven't been many 'JESUS CHRIST' moments (apart from Hodor obviously).

    I don't think that this is any fault of the writing per se. I've seen some negative comments about it, but honestly having watched all six seasons for the first time in the last couple of months I'm not seeing much of a difference or drop in quality in season six. Also, a fair whack of the material in season six is still from the books, using storyline strands saved from the fourth and fifth books — and the broad strokes for the later books have been outlined by George for the writers to flesh out. I just think that there's a necessarily large amount of narration required to build the story up for some big events. In some ways it's the first half of The Two Towers.

    This last few episodes sound like they're going to be pretty awesome though, based on the build-up so far and also their titles. Not to mention that the finale is going to be the longest yet, about 70 minutes. I think we're all dying to see some shit come Bolton's way.

    Too much TV writing, it doesn't feel like GoT anymore. Too much daftness. Arya's story just keeps getting stupider by the second. Queen of Large Lizards story is boring as hell. John fucking died and his character is no different. The Wilidlings consider him a god yet still took a lot of persuading in siding with him. Ramsey Bolton is the worst over the top bad guy I have had the misfortune to watch - TV writing bad guy VS Book bad guy in King Joffrey, absolutely night and day. Sansa's character is still dumb as shit, they don't understand how to make her grow and is still frustrating to watch each time. The pacing feels all over the place, the jarring cuts are not to my liking, either. I keep watching it because I am still curious as to how a few characters stories will turn out.

    Maybe I'm just being too cynical but I think I'm kind of with you...

    It just feels inconsistent, sometimes they'll explore some of the interesting complexities within each character and then sometimes they'll just be like "Look how evil this guy is omg! Look how badass this guy is! Here's a badass khaleesi speech!" At this point whenever they show Ramsay doing something horrific or Khaleesi doing something badass, I just can't help but roll my eyes. I don't think the inconsistency is anything new for the show necessarily (all of the dorne stuff), but I would say I'm noticing it more this season than the others. Things just feel like they are becoming more and more predictable.

    Arya's story arc feels kind of unsatisfying. They built it up for soooo long, it just dragged on and on for what felt like forever. I mean I guess we always knew she was going to go back to Westeros, but how it all played out just felt really anticlimactic to me. There's been some genuinely interesting episodes this season though, and I'm looking forward to more Bran stuff.

    I still watch the serie with some pleasure, but it's definetely not as well written than the first episodes that's for sure. The worst thing i think, is that the characters go through completely pointless aventures just there to fill up and that doesn't add up anything to the main storyline. Like the one episode long community adventure of the hound. Or all of Arya's adventure in the no one business, when you know how it finishes, what was the point of that. The sparrows thing that never ends... In contrast, some elements are rushed up : "oh that's how the white walkers were created, just a 2 minutes scene for that... ok". It makes you feel like you just have to watch the start and the end of a season if you want to see the main storyline progressing, the episodes in between just there to fill up. Plus now that characters resurrect, it looses what was taking you at the guts and made the serie unique at its beggining.

    They don't have tons of source material to piggyback on anymore since they're further ahead. Besides that Hodor episode, nothing really has happend, can the last two episodes save the season?

    That last episode was shit and it's really starting to feel like I'm watching it on fast forward. So much is rushed, so much is killed off in a meaningless untactful way. It feels like they're running to meet some kind of unknown deadline. It's like rushing a game out of the door. Everything that takes too much time is cut and the rest is speed up or simplified.

    Mmh yea, the show feels like it's past its prime. Everything seems to lead nowhere eventualy. Kinda like in a soap opera. And perhaps that's the issue. I'm not sure they even have a vision for how to end the show.

    I stopped watching at the end of season 3 (or 4 cant remember). Though the production values, characters and setting are superb, a lot of episodes are filled with plot points that don't go anywhere and exist only to fill air time. Just like soap operas.

    Really sad they are dropping the ball with this.

    Good episode. But the fucking cut in the middle to the conversation. You know the one I mean. Jaysus. They just appear as if by magic. Apart from that one part the rest was great. It felt like an episode of old.

    Pretty amazing battle scene. Probably the best large-scale "low-fantasy" battle they've done in the show so far. The way it was filmed/cut reminded me alot of Revenant with a bit of Saving Private Ryan. I kind of felt like Smalljon Umber was going to betray Ramsay at some point in the battle and reveal that his troops were actually loyal to the starks and were just biding their time or w/e. Everything seemed to kind of be pointing towards that. Also, Sansa was right. Ramsay was never going to let Rickon live, but I mean he probably could've done a couple of zig zags...


    So maybe next episode we'll see a big climax with Cersei and the Sparrows? There's wildfire under the red keep and perhaps she'll burn the city down like she always says she will. Hopefully they tie things up with Bran as well.

    Spoiler It was a dramatic episode, not the biggest fan though just because Jon's charge felt so duuuuuuuuumb.

    I know I should be able to understand character's motivations and situations etc and that we have an unfair vantage point as all-seeing observers but jesus christ how Jon Snow was baited into a fucking trap. You have to realize that Rickon was a bargaining chip to make you SURRENDER. What are the incentives to keep Rickon alive if a battle is going to happen anyway? And surely, knowing the world, Jon must've imagined that Rickon would be publicly executed or hell, even brought forth in a flayed state to mess with his/their heads.

    Spoiler I get what you are saying. But ask yourself this. Even with all this knowlegde you have now, would you simply stand by and watch him murder your little brother? And if you did go and he got shot, would you be able to turn your back to that grinning bastards face and return to your troops? Emotion always triumphs logic, unless you are a cold hearted bastard.
