Great episode. A lot better than the earlier ones, they were crap. Back on track, #10 should be a good'un.

Guess I'm alone with this opinion then.

Only read if you are up to date with this season. It does contain spoilers from the books.

The Battle of Castle Black may have been the biggest action set-piece in Game of Thrones history (and probably TV history, too), but next Sunday’s hour of the HBO hit could be the show’s best episode ever. Titled “The Children,” the 10th episode of the fourth season will break a narrative pattern that’s been set by the show in previous years. Usually the ninth episode contains a major character death or battle, and the finale is a quieter hour (by Thrones standards, at least) that wraps some storylines while launching other threads for next season. Expect “The Children” to check in with all the key characters and for some major drama to unfold. “It’s the best finale we’ve ever done, bar none,” Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said in a statement. “The performances from our cast, the direction from Alex Graves, the VFX work, the new [music] cues from Ramin Djawadi—all of it came together in perhaps the finest hour we’ve produced. We’re immensely proud of ‘The Children.’ And a little intimidated by the episode, because now we have to get back to the business of season five and figure out a way to top it.” Of key interest is the fate of Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), who was sentenced to death at the conclusion of the eighth episode. But there’s also Jon Snow (Kit Harington) marching off to assassinate Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), Arya (Maisie Williams) setting a new course, and you cannot have a Thrones finale without at least one surprise involving the dragon queen (Emilia Clarke). Expect “The Children” to be a longer-than-usual episode, too — HBO’s schedule says the finale is 66 minutes.

I've read everything. Even the comics

But this season is different. I really wonder how it will play out with Jon. I hope it isn't a cheap trick to avoid doing the big battle with the entire wildling army and Stannis.

I'm betting they're gonna do half up north and half down south.

And leave the rest as is? That would make it a pretty dull season for Dany.

They handled all of danys stuff badly imo. Although her story has been boring as fuck since she reached Mereen. I fell asleep reading her there in the books.

Let's recap what has happened with Daenerys this season.

    Quote

    * She took Mereen and basically made the entire nobility (thats left) hate her
    * Her dragons are growing larger and killing sheep

    * She got a lover, Daario, who is a mercenary famous for killing and fucking

    * She unfriended Ser Friendzone

So yeah, pretty boring over all, but important still, and doesn't really deviate much from the book. As you said, it was pretty fucking boring in the books as well and I think they kept all the highlights. Sprinkled in some perfect tits as well.

Theres a couple of more things that are going to happen to the mereen plot, but with only one episode left and so much stuff happening in Westeros at the moment I think they are going to save that for the next season.

I think the next episode will feature

    Tyrion does something shitty

    Bran becomes a tree

Arya uses her coin to travel (Valhar Morgulis)

    Jon meets his enemies again
    Sansa travels to an island

    Ends with Stark zombie face

I just started watching from the beginning again, I can never tire of this show!

I found S3 to be pretty dull (apart from the RW), so without spoiling anything, has S4 been an improvement?

I disagree with Liam. S1 and S2 have been the best.

Ohhh interesting, I thought that everyone sorta felt the same way about season 4. I did really enjoy season 1 and 2, but personally I am enjoying season 4 more. But I'm sure I'd say the same if season 3 was currently on TV

Well, cool episode all around, violence, incest,

adulterous dad.. Surprisingly enough, classy episode, not a single boob is shown!!! Woman strangled, patricide, undeads stabbing teenagers but it's cool anyway, you didn't cared about this character (jochem ? jorem ? jooer ?) at least that what says the old mystic living under the tree who happened to be a 3 eyed crow, but also been many things before. Dragons burning a 3 years old child, obviously that makes the dad sad, silly dragons have to be punished! many emotions, hodor, great battle of 5 minutes... Speaking of which, that sucked a bit. As a master strategist, Stannis sneaked an army unnoticed behind the wall, made his cavalry charge a 100 000 men army (100 000 !!!!) a cavalry charge in the woods!! IN THE SNOW!! AND HE WON!!!! He definetely hacks, because he is the worst total war player ever. But ok. Fine. It's a tv flick. He won. TYRION LIVES! i wasn't believing it!!! and he is sent in a box on a boat. Arya is sent on a boat too, that boat metaphor must mean there will be many other adventures at the horizon. So i'm eager for them. But i'll need something to get rid of the addiction.

Everyone is fine with the seer kid dying. Even his sister is over it pretty quickly. Only exists to bring Bran to creep old Warg guy. I thought Bran was told in a dream

he was the three eyed crow so I'm a little confused what's going on there. Either way he's going to become the super witch.

I wonder if The Hound is actually dead or is going to come back like his brother, Frankenmountain. And if Frankenmountain will have a different actor.

Looking forward to Arya reuniting with cool assassin dude.

Dragon Lady plot remains boring and linear even in the series finale.
