Wow, talk about some major changes. Doesn't matter if you read the books now this is new for all of us.
-
Yeah wtf?
QuoteThat White Walker stuff... That definitely never happens in the books. And Bran getting captured by the ex-night's watch people?!
-
Very strange episode. I trust the changes they made will all come together and turn out to be good but yeah, I wasn't sure what to make of this one. It was still very good with some great scenes but overall as a reader I felt a bit lost. Up until this episode I've made sense of everything - even the little changes they made before in earlier episodes. And it took me ages to realise who the fuck Locke was as he isn't part of the books.
-
Well, let's be honest guys. Book 4 really wasn't that good. It felt more like a filler and was actually pretty boring because it kept dragging on. Even if you don't agree with this you can't deny that book 4 is the weakest entry. Besides who could keep track of all the side things he kept introducing. I needed a wiki just to keep track of all the names. Anyway, I'm glad they decided to trim a lot of the fat and make it far more cohesive. Because let's face it, having Bran walk around North of the wall for 2 seasons isn't really that interesting. Not to mention the fact that it's new for us as well

Karl Tanner is my favourite character!

This is not a spoiler but a piece of history which I think relates to what we saw in the last episode. So only watch this if you're up to date.

Ok, Peter Dinklage's performance impressed me in this last episode !
-
First part wasn't what I'd hoped it to be (HBO writers taking big liberties again) and was feeling a bit meh about it all and I was fearing for the worst - then Dinklage came and saved the god damn day.

Yes.
I think that the liberties they took in episode 5 were for the better but last night was the first time the show disappointed me.
QuoteThey end the third season with an epic speech about how she's gonna safe Theon. Then they start this episode with yet another speech on why they will safe Theon and then we get a 30 second fight and she claims he's dead. However you put it, that was pretty fucking lame and crappy storytelling.
Indeed, Dinklage saved this episode.
However the liberties they are taking are already starting to show some cracks. A bit premature for sure, but still.

QuoteYeah this never happens in the book, ok fine, I can live with this deviation again. But what REALLY made me shout at the TV was the super hard cut at the end. One second we're in the keep fighting (also it's really narrow and cramped, the ironborn are three abreast with shields, ramsays men have fuck all and he's topless and just wildly swinging his weapons, I'm no combat specialist but the guy with the shield he was hitting could of easily killed ramsay but he still manages to win... no) then the next second the ironborn are back in the boats leaving and I'm sat there thinking if the file skipped a few seconds and was corrupt. NOPE.
Ramsay and Theons bath scene was good, though. Very tense I liked that. That should of been the whole section, not that silly... stuff. Bah.

Exactly!

Yeah, that whole scene was just kinda pointless really, and really badly edited.
Peter Dinklage did an incredible job in the trial scene though. Fantastic acting.
-
Yep yep and yep.
QuoteHuge setup with Theon's sister and then what a letdown. I suppose it was to build the ending with Ramsay and Theon (obviously Ramsay is hatching something) but they have to do a better job or else this series will just start meandering.
Also...
QuoteI haven't read book 4 yet so I don't know where it is going, but now Dany is sitting on a throne and ruling...her whole story is getting very stale...
I dunno, I still love the show but they better not go all Lost on us and just drag on. I want epic closures!

minor spoiler
Quotethat's basically what happened to her in the books as well - she gets stuck in those cities for a while. don't fear though, there's some good stuff going to happen, both on epic battle scale and on a more political level again!
