I've red this Q&A with Vice President, Kinect is not required to view movies. Plus several infos on used game stuff.

Two articles, posted literally at the same time, saying opposite things. What can I say (I haven't said already)?

I would say gamesindustry is probably a more reliable website to trust...On further viewing and unsurprisingly the wallstreet watch is talking about American stocks in the company, gamesindustry is talking about Japan, where most of its stocks are floated.

Stock market is not my thing so, esxcuse me? I would think that a website about stock market would be more reliable on stock market we are not talking about "general evaluations", which you can say generalistic news channels "do wrong" on gaming stuff.

By the way the article i linked also mentions about Japan's market.

My understading reading both: they simply are referring to different "timestamps" of the market (which we know shift quickly). Anyway, the stock market isn't an index of the quality of a product and how well it will do among consumers (again: how many articles criticized PS4 regarding the social aspects?). Since keynotes have become so mainstream, it seems this fluctuations happen more and more often.

Duh, I'm a total alien to this stuff, imo these are just results of speculations and no real indicators.

My issue with it all isn't that they didn't show any games, but some of the things they did show and say. Things like 'a highlight of the Xbox One will be a Steven Spielberg produced Halo TV series'...how is that a highlight of a games console? I like TV, I like Spielberg, but still...Also, apparently you'll be able to play music, and games, at the same time?! Why would I want to play music over a game? That'd be like playing music over a film surely, does anyone actually do this?

Also the fact that the Kinect is required for use is annoying, my lounge wasn't big enough for the old Kinect, and now you're telling me the new Xbox won't function without one? Guess I'm going to have to move house. Kinect was a bit of a gimmick on release, I had some fun playing bowling with it for about a week and then it went into a cupboard and I never let it out again. Quite why MS feel it's justifiable to force it down people's throats with the Xbox One I'm not sure..

The most irritating thing though for me is the second hand games issues. Yes it's good for the games industry as a business, but as a consumer who buys and plays a lot of games (even the crap ones, just for reference) and relies on being able to trade them in shortly after purchase for near-full price this is seriously making me consider a PS4 next gen. I know you will still be able to buy second hand Xbox games, and pay a fee to unlock them, but I can't see this being too cheap (will probably be a least a tenner, to replace the online passes), which defeats the point of buying games pre-owned. If the Xbox One games are around £25 quid brand new, then maybe I'll re-consider it, but I don't think that's going to happen, in fact they'll probably be more expensive brand new than current gen games are, such is the way normally.

142564789 more points to pc gaming again; i'm glad.

The irony reaches the top when playing on a console becomes less convenient than downloading a cracked game on pc that runs without any license activations nor disc.

Microsoft's people must be kicking each other in the assholes now they've realised how most people are going to shorten the name for the next 7+ years.

I thought bone was a reference to the dog and not One. D'oh!

Xbone. Hmmm, sounds good to me. I doubt microsoft was ok with "360"? Or were they?

Are we sure about the indie stuff? In Wired Q&A with MS VP he explicitly says the Marketplace will be home to big, medium and small games, with whatever monetization model. This seems to open a door to indies... unleass they opt to work just with publishers of course.

That's possible and would be very "Microsoft" of them, but also rather silly, i mean, on Windows Phone they have an open submission model. And apparently they would like to have the same kind of ecosystem... Harrison reminded that they have that "snap mode", which is none other than a place to put small (web)apps on the model they have on smartphones. Those apps will be on the Marketplace too, and forthose they will certainly have an open process...

Aye just read that as well.

It's a pretty interesting setup here. Microsoft will recieve a fee (plus the publisher) from each used game sold, but if Sony doesn't go with something like this (which haven't been confirmed or denied yet), then it will probably make the PS4 more attractive for people that sell their used games. They'd miss the fee obviously, but they might get more people buying the game for their console, which might balance itself out/be a better deal.

It's going to be pretty interesting to see what Sony is actually going to do in regards to this.

After 20 years as a gamer, purchasing most consoles, I think I'm going to skip this one. I will determine when I'm online or not. That's not for a company to decide. Also, if I buy something, it's mine and I can do with it what I want. Now I have to pay an percentage to sell something I've already paid for? It doesn't get much crazier then this. Bye Microsoft!

I don't see where in Eurogamer's article they say you have to pay to resell it (unless you mean an arbitrary loss on what you are selling).

I would speculate that when they will wipe a game off your gamer account, they are gonna also wipe the achievements... just to be sure that you don't really want to sell a game and hold on to it.

Personally I don't care, I can play little, I choose what I play wisely, I only buy discounted or Best Seller editions when a game is <25€ with few exceptions.

Certainly all this DRMs are annoying anyways.

Do you guys in your companies ever discuss about the pricing agreements, do you think it would be possible to cut it down or not? I continously read/listen to other gamers saying "i can only buy one of the three big games coming out across these two months, i'll get A while B and C will wait for discounts". If a game did cost ~25 LOTS of people would be buying double or triple the titles at day-1, wouldn't this make up for the difference?

Btw, came here to spam this

It's not really clear. But in this article it is:
