That was only a closed alpha limited to around 10.000 players. There will be another alpha test for a lot more people, including the pre orders from wolfenstein I think.

So far the main feedback I read are regarding speed. Could be because you always run in the MP or Quake3 hardcore gamers find every game these days too slow.

Well, people need to realize the 90's are gone and making a game with the speed of Quake 3 again is shooting yourself in the foot, the hardcore fans will appreciate it but you'll be alienating the other 99% of gamers, from what I gather from the videos, speed seems fine. I'm more worried it borrows a bit too much stuff from Halo.

I got used to the movement speed pretty quickly when I played. Of course like most people I heard over voice chat, my first knee-jerk reaction was that it was too slow. Although after playing and getting used to moving around the map, you basically forget about it. In regard to the movement speed I guess that's why I think it's similar to Halo. Also it felt like the maps were very carefully designed around the current movement speed/movement model so it all works out really well in the end. There were lots of nifty little jumps to grab armor/health. I felt really special because I knew where the mega health was and it seemed like no one else did =).

When I saw the video the feeling was just plain Quake :| only the plasma gun and the doomguys are reminiscent of Doom. Yes there's also stuff that makes it feel/look like Halo.

Can't say I'm looking forward to this, I liked much more the survival/horror steer they chose when they created Doom 3.

With snapmap I'm sure there will be plenty of mutators/mods that will adress the speed for people looking for some more old school FPS coolness, seems as if that's the kind of mods it's intended for besides making maps.

really? I feel very slow in GO after playing Overwatch for example. Can't imagine slower than that

It's way too slow. Speed needs to be increased by at least 50%. Also, loadouts ruin the map design. Other weapons don't matter. Strategic weapon locations don't matter. Everybody is just spamming rockets.

Snap map does not interest me in the slightest.

I think they showed some clips of a "classic" mode where the guns were pickups instead of loadouts. Lets just hope that game mode is active. Especially if there is a duel mode. I can't imagine duel with loadouts.

A good way to separate it would be to just let the unranked pub matches be loadouts and ranked matches would be pickups. Pub matches should be fun and accessible, but I want to have somewhere where I can challenge myself. I'm not sure if they have plans to have a ranked mode but I feel like it would be a missed opportunity if they didn't. At the very least a ranked duel mode.

I don't even understand the point of loadouts. All I do is pick Assault and spam rockets. I'm hoping the Demon Rune is it's own separate game mode too, did they say it was? As currently it's a bit silly in DM/Team DM.

I know this is Alpha and it's great to be in it, but right now this is going to need a lot of work as currently it is just: Hold forward, move very slowly and heavily while occasionally pressing strafe or jump while spamming rockets with a gimmick Revenant flying about now and again.

But slow is more realistic man! Also, you can make maps use less art/work if they're smaller (no need to make large maps for slow-paced game).

The DM I keep getting put on is called Heatwave and it is pretty large come to think of it. It's the foundry tileset we saw in the first "gameplay" trailer.

Some new shots leaked. Apparently they listened to some of the feedback because the enemies look a lot closer to the originals:

I really love the look of the hell maps this time around, but I'm not feeling the particular clean look this scene is going for. This is all very hard to judge from a screenshot of course, but for this particular IP, I prefer the grittier look of what we saw before or from doom 3.

Those are shots from the Gameinformer article. The whole 12 page cover story should be available really soon on their website.

I actually think this is my favorite one. That gradient railing is so goddamn clever and simple but injects enough abstract weirdness. To me this is one of the best of the bunch, although the scale in it does seem kind of off?

Check the video for some new stuff.

Look man, I'm insanely hyped for this game, I see a lot of comments going like "uhhh, I see no innovation in gameplay!". The way I see it, old is the new gold. This is exactly what I wanted a Doom game to be, oldschool fast, no reload, demons everywhere just plain fun!
