Wow, its the first HL2DM map i really like.

Thats because it isnt city17 oriented, and its not just ugly (which is the case in most of the HL2DM maps ive seen yet)

The only thing is the strange rock thing in the first pic.Should be easily fixed....

Yes. Ill try and post some pics of that asap but I have to setup the lighting for the inside first.

And I have that same feeling about HL2 maps, they all look like HL-1 maps with hires textures and some prop models put in :/

Its should be pretty fun to play. The main layout of the mountain is like a spiralling way around the mountain about 3 meters wide. If you falloff you wont die but inmediately respawn from the light at the top. Same goes for props, after a while they too will be dropped on top of the mountain.

Its really not hard to get to places you would like to go, you only receive 10 damage for dropping down even when you drop from the top to the bottom.

Weapons are to be found on stick-out places and not just simply lying around like in Lockdown.

For instance on the walkways to the 2 small minarets on either side therell be a weapon.

It sure has the looks, if you can work out the gameplay we just might see the winner here :P

Altough I'm a bit concerned about the crossbow and rocket launcher advantages in this open area.

It's good to see you back 3D Mike. Nice map you got there. I don't like the spikey rocks in the front and I think you could integrate the other ones a bit better too but it's a damn fine piece of work you have there. Kinda reminds me of Myst

I think the main problem with those spiky rocks is that (to me) they look normal mapped and then all the other rocks aren't, looks pretty jarring and somehow wrong. Very, very nice though, as the others have said, it makes a fine change from all the beaten up city environments we've been seeing. GJ.

I feel the same about m rocks but I cant find any better suiting in the sample material :/

And you guys might be right about gameplay, I dont think I can make that deadline without playtesting it well enough to proper balance it. Im going to finish it for now, sent it to valve and after that finish it without any stress

Looks great 3d-mike! As usual You could construct a rock or rocks using displacement maps + same texture on the terrain... might take some work but it would work. Is it a tiling texture? Although this map looks great I don't think Valve is looking for maps like this, I'd imagine they would want to pick maps that look similiar too HL2 or HL1 + graphics update. This is way cool but kind of out there.
