I too played 2nd game for about 4 hours then gave up, but the time I played it was defo well executed, dunno what made me stop. Maybe it was the combat, very hack and slash which I'm not a big fan of. Everything else I really liked, but if the game play doesn't grab you, as we all know, visuals and story only hold your attention for so long.

That trailer is a fan made super-cut. Here's the new trailer that went out on VGX this weekend.

The Witcher 3 got me rock hard. I have never been able to get into the first Witcher because of the combat system. I decided to give the second installment a try and fell in love with everything. Day one purchase.

Hey guys, question. Should I play The Witcher 2 right away and skip Witcher 1?

Lemme rephrase that, by skipping directly to Witcher 2, will I be loosing major parts of the games plot? Is it like Mass Effect 2, where you should really play the first to get the most out of it?

I haven't played witcher 1 and witcher 2 doesn't really continue from 1. It also explains any lore from 1 fairly well.

I tried to play Witcher 1 about a year ago and thought it was kind of neat, if not really janky. Then there was a boss a few hours in- fighting against some wolf beast that was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a game. Brutally difficult, very long, and no way to defend yourself against it. I quit the game and I'll never go back.

You might have a different experience and I've heard the game is really cool, but not worth it in my experience.
