Don't worry, F2P games won't require a PS+ membership to be played: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/12/pla…es-dont-requir/
I mean, that's what you were concerned about, am I right? ![]()

this is what i'm not sure about, every MP game will require me to have PS+ ?
Very good post HP, Lots of good games on it.]
I played Splice, don't starve on steam and God save pilgrims and LUFTRAUSERS at gdc =-D
Splice have a gorgeous art direction but, unfortunately, i don't liked too much the gameplay ![]()
Cloud god save the pilgrims is a one-man game. The guy told me that he coded, made the art and gameplay. He's a former q-games employee.
He is already developing a (maybe exclusive for some time) game for wii u: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t7gnbUL-48
I'm think is very good this approach of nintendo and sony to indie devs. Good to devs, good to the consoles, good do players.
Yeah, you'll need PS+ to access the online portion of PS4 multiplayer games.
While I was a little surprised initially, I'm OK with it. Multiplayer on the PS3 might have been free but it was also a fairly disjointed and laggy experience. it looks like Sony has been putting serious investment into the PS4's online infrastructure: loads of social features, instant sharing of gameplay videos, dedicated servers, etc. I'm guessing money will be needed to support these single-player/multiplayer crossover games that look like they're going to become a big thing next gen too.
In short, I think we're going to get extra value for money that justifies the cost. The PS3 online experience fell way behind Microsoft's once MS started introducing the new versions of the OS, probably because MS had so much support from subscriptions to keep improving it.
I'd like to re-emphasize that not all online multiplayer games on PS4 will require PS+.
QuoteFurthermore, free-to-play games won't require PlayStation Plus for online multiplayer. During a separate roundtable Joystiq was present at, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida said, "As far as free-to-play games are concerned, it's the publisher's decision whether they put it inside or outside of PS Plus."
I don't think I've ever actually played a console F2P game.
It's good to know that F2P games will be truly F2P though.
yeah, this is hell'a good shit, F2P on console is new for me
Yeah that is seriously awesome for a console. I wonder if XBone will follow suit with games like World of Tanks or you'll need a gold account?
I'm totally fine with paying for it if they'll be able to match Microsoft in online features and community functions. If their online functionality is just the PS3 over again, then I'll be pretty disappointed, but even then they'll still have the entire free game thing going (even if MS is doing that as well).
Regardless then I'm betting on Sony significantly upping their game when it comes to online this generation, even if it got better with the PS3, then it never felt as solid as the 360's.
The first version of 1001 Spikes is on XBLIG and easily one of the best games on there (although there's Protect Me Knight and nothing else). While it is a platformer where you die a lot and many of those deaths are a bit trial and error, I wouldn't lump it in with "lol hard platformers" that are just a constant stream of bullshit with a focus on firing you out the checkpoint as fast as possible. The mechanics and controls are solid and lots of the stages have some kind of puzzle element. It's on the Vita though, not PS4.
I was at the midnight launch event for Last of Us last night, I found it hilarious when the chick behind the counter asked me if I wanted to pre-order the PS4. No mention of the XboxOne, of course not, that platform wont allow them to make 95% profit out of used games. Yesterday, I literally had in my hand a brand new mario game, for 39.99$, and a used copy for 37.99$, wtf!
Also, amazon made a statement that the first batch of PS4's already sold out! You can still order it of course, but you wont be able to get it day 1 anymore.
Green side vs Blue side
Under the hoods there is just one color, AMD's red.
Stores are all sold out of PS4's here in Toronto, and huge stacks (ticket things) of Xbox unos are still for sale.(pre-order) According to a few friends from working looking to buy.

Simplified rant: I think that by going AMD APU, 8 low power cores, 8 GB of RAM and mid range class GPU they can deliver what the previous gen could not. 720p min with stable fps. They could have gone the expensive way, over 2ghz cpu, 1ghz gpu and bandwidths of no less than 200 GB/s, but then they would've probably suffered with prohibitive costs and too much heat. Moreover 1080p should be much more "achivable" than it was in the previous gen with its tight bottlenecks and ram limit.
And there will be certainly lots of remastered editions. Much like God of War remastered for PS3 with upgrade in fps and resolution, there will be a God of War remastered for PS4 with the fps and res that the PS3 could not deliver.
Beyond 1080p, 4k, with PS4 and Xbox one? Unlikely, or certainly not.

If it comes to the point where devs have to choose between 1080p and 60FPS then I hope they botch 1080p first so we can at least have a smooth gaming experience
30 FPS is very painful to play, definitely since a lot of times framedrops put you closer to the 20ies :s I guess that's a personal thing ![]()
Anything less than 1080 nowadays would be preposterous. ![]()
