I thought it would be interesting to post some games once in development that have ended up being shelved or "on hold" for a long time.

    The Crossing

Arkane Studios was once developing an ambitious Source powered single/multiplayer FPS set in Paris in both a semi-apocalyptic distopian future and 1300s France. I was interested in seeing France being used in an FPS, but sadly it got canned first due to lack of financial support and then because of another project. Big pity, it looked to be a very interesting and original idea...

I thought that diagonal bridge from the crossing was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Not so sure why in hindsight. There was also a vertical sort of italian themed set of screenshots that probably held up better

Gray Matter's game Trinity was one of my most highly anticipated at the time (keep in mind this is from about 2000):

Also, this fantastic looking space sim appears to be dead:

Looking Glass Studios' Deep Cover was a blend of Thief and System Shock set during the Cold War, in which you assumed the role of a spy with a ton of gadgets. It involved stealth and other cool things. Unfortunately, after LGS closed down the project was cancelled. No One Lives Forever is maybe the closest thing to Deep Cover.

I talked to Filippo (one of the devs) earlier this year. F'king shame... The atmosphere in that video is brilliant.

I never heard about that but there was some kind of System Shock like game that was in development once, it was something like "Sanity: Awakening" or something... wish I could remember exactly!
