srsly ? it looks fucking hard to play FPS like this !

I played with TF2 for a little bit and I feel like it will actually be an advantage. You can check your corners while still pointing your gun forward. They have a lot of different modes you can try out, but the default is something people could definitely get very good at. Assuming they don't barf.

gets home from work, shattered, have to run 35 miles to shoot some noobs in tf2 ^^

The future IMO is being able to control everything with mental stimulus, not attaching mechanical apparatus of our own limbs and eyes. Still it's a step in the right direction I suppose.

Imagine, like BF3, all the heavy breathing and gasps for air as the team reaches an objective. And when both teams meet at the central objective, 64 people panting and coughing like mad.Oh god the horror.

Seriously though, he must be able to configure the sensitivity of the pad so he wouldn't need to run so much to cover so little distance.

right now i'd at least like the option to sweat all over my rift and apartment, get eloctrocuted and then discovered days later by a nosey neighbhor, slumped over in my gymboree machine naked, clutching a plastic rifle

This is pretty cool and he's got it calibrated really well it seems.

I could imagine something like this being very awesome in a games like ARMA, CS:GO and other shooters where being quiet gives you an advantage. Being able to use hand gestures instead of voice commands and making an noise would be awesome. Of course people use external voice chat programs but it's another step towards some pretty immersive action.

Still, for myself, I think the Rift will really shine in games where the players is seated or stationary in the game. For example racing games and flight sims. At least then you will get a more authentic experience I guess? In shooters your eyes will see movement but your body won't be moving.

hate being the guy who always brings this up every time the oculus rift used, but to be honest i'm jaded.

I have the rift sitting in my room collecting dust atm, because this thing just blows it out of the water. I tried it at GDC... sure its not as cheap and 'consumer grade' as the rift is, especially with the Sony headset, but it's just proof that someone's going to come around and probably bury oculus rift pretty hard.

Sony's current headset, with a yei adapter (all together about $1,000), is sooooo much better than a oculus rift. None of this fiddling with distorted views, looks way better, feels way better, doesn't induce sickness after a few seconds and way more...

I think the oculus rift is neat, but i've been following stereo 3d, VR, as well as doing some projects with extremely high profile clients regarding VR and... to be frank... all the oculus rift is doing is sparking public interest for a giant to come in and perfect it....

which isn't a bad thing at all.
