Post ideas/feedback about new forums here

Which browser is that Skjalg? Can't seem to replicate it in Chrome, Firefox, or IE9.

Strange, exactly the same as mine — this is at the top of forums, right? Is there anything else going on you can think of that might be affecting this, such as using a higher font size or zoom than normal? Any other Chrome people seeing the same thing (most of us use Chrome according to the stats, lol).

It looks like you can't right now egu, although if you hold down your finger on the image you can copy it into your address bar. Definitely an oversight though, so I'll make it so clicking takes you to the big version.

BTW I've had to be out of town for a couple if days and the Internet absolutely sucks here, so I'll be implementing various changes during the coming week based on feedback, etc.

Also, I noticed that all links from the previous forum are now broken. Is there a way to fix that? I might have lots of links in my browser favorites (like the References thread) that can't open anymore.

There is a vague possibility there's a way to get the old links to redirect through, but I'll have to look into it. It is an unfortunate side-effect of conversion, one of many that I've been working on fixing behind the scenes (certain characters getting screwed up, tags not being the same between the forums, etc), which is why more visible but arguably low-priority stuff like the skin hasn't been done yet.

I can definitely hear the desire for a darker theme. Once I've made the adjustments to the current theme this week, I'll put up a poll about some further changes to help gauge interest and/or prioritise updates.

Yeah I've noticed those two bugs while iPhone browsing myself, I think I'll add an extra « and » button for going to the first/last pages and just get rid of the loading box altogether.

That's very strange, the 'view unread posts' feature seems to work reliably for me. If you hover over a thread this problem affects and click the arrow that appears in a circle, does a 'first unread post' appear in there? And if you click that link does it do the same problem, or take you to the last unread post like it should?

Oh and just to be clear, is this for the regular or mobile/phone skin?

Ah, OK. If it's only affecting threads you haven't visited since the new software was implemented I don't think there'll be any round it, as the 'last unread' data probably didn't survive the conversion — at least not all of it. It sounds like the 'there is a new unread post in this thread' data made it, but the specific page to take you to didn't.

A possible way to stop this continuing to happen is to click the 'Mark Community Read' link right at the bottom of the page. This will basically mark every single post as having been read, thus any future icons you see will be based on new, working data.

OK guys, just as a warning I'm going to be doing a bunch of stuff on the forums during the next few days so we can finally get articles coming out more regularly (Big thanks to those who've talked to me privately about contributing!) and resolve a number of issues and bugs brought up in this thread and elsewhere.

As such you might notice brief moments where the forums don't load or everything looks completely messed up, as I have to do the work on the live forums (setting up a whole test environment is more work than it's worth right now). Hopefully I'll avoid it being noticeable but if you spot some far-out weirdness like a bright red sidebar just assume it's part of the changes.
