Airboat or any driving wouldn't be bad if they were actually doing so. The problem imo is that there's too much available exploration, so you are continuously stopping instead of driving, jumping and killing, which is what makes driving a vehicle fun.

I loved those parts due to the exploration, probably my favorite parts of the game :s

I'm with Evert on this, I loved the car and airboat sections, just as much as I loved the "On a Rail" chapter of HL1.

I grew up with these games so may have slightly rose tinted goggles looking back compared to someone a bit older and wiser who would look at it initially more critically.

I think the airboat and car sections were pretty important to the game's epic feel. Without those it starts to feel a little bit too linear

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciated the introduction of driveable vehicles, it gave scope and size to the world. Just I think it was a bit too fragmented to be fun as it should have been. Of course stopping here and there for a puzzle is perfect, is the whole in between that I didn't like much. Probably because I played too anal and cautious, picking enemies from a distance where possible etc

I always sort of dread the vehicle sections, then when I play them I'm just like "oh yeah, it was kinda fun, wasn't it?" or "OH GOD I'M FLYING LET'S JUMP A FUCKING OCEAN BACKWARDS WHILE CROUCHING".

They break up the shooting in a very nice way.

I loved the car section with all those abandoned buildings! The 3-story house is hilarious :D

The only part I wish would have been a bit shorter is the "Follow Freeman!" and "Anticitizen One" as I felt as this sections dragged on for a bit longer than I'd like them to. It's a minor complaint though and I still think Half-Life 2 is one of the best (if not the best) singleplayer campaign!

Everything was perfect because valve made it!11!1 The only thing that sucked was "we think episode gaming is good because we can release quicker" 8 years later or whatever it is now, still waiting for that next episode guys. I even went into Valve and trolled them over this, no joke. Surprised I didn't get booted out :v
