Just got to rank 3 in the beta. Lots of fun but there's a few graphical glitches here and there for me.

First game in a good few years that I can't run at high. Time for an upgrade me thinks!

Hmmm, I'm really not enjoying this on 360. Looks like absolute shite, and the level is so open.. There's barely any cover anywhere lol. It feels like the level is still in blockout.

Gonna have to compare it to PC!

Someone on my facebook feed (long time industry vet) was gushing over the beta. I myself have not tried it but here's what he had to say. And here's your grain of salt and stuff for what it's worth.

BF4 continues the strong tradition of creating my all time favorite game moments. Today I crashed my transport helo into the tallest tower in the city with my full squad inside. We had been owning the map with both guns blazing and RPG's fired out the doors. When we hit the tower, we were ejected into the building only losing one person. The building then decided it was done existing, and started to fall. We all jumped out of the building together, free fell 150 stories and landed together on a nearby roof top eliminating the pesky snipers that had been there.

The game is gorgeous, responsive, and gives me the chills on a regular basis. Kudos DICE.

Currently runs like crap on my PC (i7 2600k, 660ti, 8gb ram), so I'll wait until there's a good driver or the game has been fixed.

I have been enjoying the game quite a lot. Played a couple of hours each these past two nights. My biggest gripe is I get terrible performance right now, and changing the graphics settings seems to do nothing to alleviate the problem.

Another issue I have is it's muck quicker to kill or be killed. Seems they are moving more towards the COD damage model. This has greatly reduced the number of "close encounter" moments for me, something that was always exciting in the past battlefields. Though this might be somewhat augmented by my bad performance.

I think they've approached this level with the idea of 3 infantry areas, connected by open bridges for vehicles. If you stay around D+E or C or A+B infantry can do quite well and there seems to me to be plenty of cover, it's as soon as you want to move from one section to the next it gets tough. But then there's so many vehicles in this map you can easily just hop in a transport with your squad.

Wait, it's even easier to die now? Battlefield has always been a game where it only takes a few accurate shots to kill you (four with an assault rifle) so hearing that it's even faster to die now is crazy. Are you sure you weren't playing on whatever the BF4 equivalent of a 'hardcore' server is?

IMO Battlefield has always gotten damage just right, much like Day of Defeat always did. I hope they aren't fucking with that winning formula, this kind of thing is more important than one might initially think.

I'm not sure if you can take more bullets now, but the weapons definitely feel a bit more CoD:y. It's just to hold down the trigger which leads to more lethal combat (you don't have to fire in bursts). I've only played 5 laggy minutes but I never felt like I needed to skillfully control my weapon.

You need the nvidia beta drivers or something, I think. There was a mail going around the office of some dude having performance problems as well.

Dunno, haven't checked it out yet

It's still far from the full experience when you can't be Commander, apart from EA/DICE members. It's such a game-changer and could really help deal with hard-to-get-to threats, or just blow sniping squads off rooftops. Another thing is the extremely limited unlocks in the beta. You could've at least tossed a silencer in the there to use, other than to the mediocre sniper rifle. You don't always want to tell everyone about your position.

Also if you want to be more useful as Support, take the muzzle brake off the U100-MK5.

It seems a bit silly that betas nowadays have so little content. How can you really beta test a game when most of the levels, weapons, and features are missing? What if commander mode has some major bugs nobody at EA or DICE is spotting? At the very best you're going to just end up with one really well-tested level, lol. At this point we really need to drop the 'beta' charade which is probably 50 builds behind the retail version anyway, and just call it a damn demo. All they really want from players is feedback to inform future patches anyway IMO.

So i've played few games and (i know its BETA and i know its PS3) but why this game looks a lot wors than BF3? and after the building goes down, its like just a blockout map no textures lol ( i know the dust is on the groud, but still a lil bit weak) and as for the levolution in this map (the building going down) i had that in every mach i've played and it feels like scripted stuff, not dynamic. I hope other levels will drop that feeling.
When i was trying to fly a chopper ofcourse the controls are different (i spent like 20 min mixing betwen presets to get controls like in bf3, why there isn't something like "BF3 presset", couse the choppers are handeling JUST THE SAME FUCKING WAY as in BF3, why complicate stuff. BF3 stats were holding SELECT button, why now is the START button, becouse ps4 ain't got SELECT ? ect) but after establishing right presset flying was OK.
There are some new stuff like throwing ammo pack, you will pick it only once (not like in BF3/Bad Comapny, your squad could grab ammo from the same ammo pack, this time you need to autofire with ammo pack if you want to earn some points) and why ammo pack wont give you granade is beyond me !
after all this is a new game looking like map pack (sorry guys but it looks like it, i hope you wont start making COD like every year shit) so new gameplay designs are implemented and we need to get used to it.
I was trying to get in to the same squad with my friend and it was HARD, and why you cant switch sides now ? or if you can HOW ?

Audio FX's are great tho !

    EDIT:
i've played it on PS3, will test pc ver later on

there are two types of ammo and health packs, you unlock the larger packs later which works like they did in bf3. As for the controls, I think you can set them to veteran which makes them work like they also did in bf3. And hurry up and test on a PC, its looks waaay better

Yeah the map looks awful after the skyscraper comes down. Bf3 on 360 looked much better than this!

So far a slightly negative experience.

    - STILL cannot access the menu during the end game scoreboard. This was INFURIATING in bf3

    - Runs like poop (4.3ghz 8350Fx 16gb ram 560Ti installed on an ssd)

    - Netcode still laggy as ever - played with the slider in the options to see if that would help but saw little change (was a french server 30 ping)

    - Crashed twice and bluescreened once

    - Can't change any settings until you're in a server but then get kicked for being afk as you swap out your settings and the game crashes

    - Not really seeing the fuss over this "levlution" thing

    - Health regen on tanks is still here, bleh

    - Still starting as medic without shock paddles is frustrating

    - Doesn't look as good as bf3 - am I imagining this?

On the positive side of things before everyone says I'm complaining too much as usual:

    - Sound is awesome sauce as ever

    - The realtime view of where you will spawn is a nice feature

    - The map spawn is good and informative, easy to use

    - The model animations are nice and fluid

Chopper handling has been GREATLY improved. kny you smoke good stuff!

Reload mechanics is preventing spam fest which is very good

    Sound is awesome

    New spawning interface is solid

Commander will add an extra layer of combat

Laggy as hell in the "beta"

You can lock choppers with a regular RPG? dafuq

Swimming/diving/shooting while swimming really makes you feel more powerful ("oh I better suicide myself instead of trying to reach shore" feeling is gone)

Not sure about the Voice chat though, is it like Bf2 where Squad members could only speak between members, and the squad leader could speak to the commander? Right now it feels like the fucking 32 players can hear me speak :/

Levelolution is okay but I hate that it is specific collumns that you have to target in order to take it down. Was hoping something more random.

Snipers with C4! (hope they will get rid of unlimited c4 support, this shits too OP)

"Chopper handling has been GREATLY improved. kny you smoke good stuff!"

hmm i was flying most of the time in BF3 and here in beta i can get 40/1 Kill to death ratio - when i'm in a chopper, and scout choppers feels EXACTLY THE SAME man !
