Saw this Friday with some guys from work and it was fucking awesome. Great action movie. I went in knowing pretty much nothing about it so I was very pleasantly surprised!

I hope it does well and paves the way for more Dredd movies now!

The only negative review I've found is from the Daily Mail (that explains a lot), barely even a review... what kind of idiot makes comparisons of Judge Dredd to Anders Breivik and fascism?!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/re ... comic.html

    Nonsense.

Now THAT is a Dredd film!

Considering the 35m budget, they did a splendid job. I liked what they did with the city, mixing in the older parts with the newer futuristic look. It would have been nice to see more of it and hopefully next time around we will.

The uniform changes didn't bother me so much as I thought, because in reality what works in a comic doesn't work so well in a film (like huge

shoulder pads and no body armour).

It definately lives up to it's 18 rating, it's downright nasty in parts.

The real swearing was a bit lame but I suppose people yelling 'drokk' and 'stomm' would confuse the Hell out of non-fans.

Karl Urban was fantastic as Dredd, he nailed the part almost perfectly. There were some occasions where he seemed to change voice a few times which was a little annoying.

Lena Headey was very underused, she's a great actress and needed more screentime imho.

Olivia Thirlby's performance as Anderson was ok.. not much to write home about, not sure why they wrote PSI division out of the film either...

The Lawmaster is still terrible but it was barely in the film and maybe they'll change it for the next one.

Loved the little easter eggs in the film like the "Kenny Who?" graffiti.

End was a bit anti-climatic, I expected more of a punch (pun intended).

Overall I'm very happy with that, I'll give it a solid 8.5/10

Couldn't agree more. Finally saw it yesterday. Absolutely fucking loved it. It was grim and brutal. Urban did a great job. Respect for doing a movie without taking of your helmet. I liked all the characters and the way the movie progressed. I was really annoyed at first by basically doing the movie in one building, like in The Raid. But it worked out great and it was nothing like The Raid. If you like action and violence with a kick ass protagonist, your in for treat. Also, I expected the 3D to be a cheap gimmick but it was actually done quite well. The Slo Mo effect of the drugs was also quite nice. Yes, can't wait to watch it again.

I enjoyed it - seemed more like an 80's/90's styled action movie with modern effects.

It flopped at the box office but it did great in DVD/BR sales. There's now an official petition going on for a sequel. Please help out and spread the word.

I'm late to the party here but Dredd was a fantastic movie! Miles above the Stallone one at at least. I liked the plot (the script is actually older then the Raid Redemption but tbh, I loved the Raid too), the action was great and it's nice to see an action movie with a hard R for a change. The did the comic book right as well by not taking off the helmet.
