Just 6 hours to go for PC version! And the timer on the Steam store page is for when the prepurchase offer ends.

Ordered today, don't like ignoring games with such high praise across the board. I think the amount of cutscene content in MGS 4 was one thing that put me off playing it, and I guess I assumed this would be more of the same but from what I hear the cutscenes are greatly reduced in number and length, which sounds good

Holy shit, now that's praise. Maybe I should try it.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is not just a high watermark for the series. It is the greatest ever stealth game by a distance, a true masterclass from a designer and team who bow out at the very peak of their creative powers. This is one of the greatest blockbusters our medium has ever had as well as the perfect ending to one of gamings' great series - and the end of one incredible, extended journey from Hideo Kojima. For decades to come, players will see the legacy of Metal Gear Solid, and have no choice but to salute.

It sounds like someone who's a bit overexcited by the game and it's release to me. I'll wait a bit to pass the euphoria and see what people really think about it.

Maybe, maybe not. One thing is for sure, I've put more than 25 hours in the game and I agree wholeheartedly. I wouldn't have too many problems saying this game might just be a masterpiece.

PS. I realize I'm the biggest MGS fanboy and this genre may not be for everybody. I feel like a fucking kid, and it's all so awesome!

Some jerk at Konami thought that was a good idea to put the Steam installer in the PC version, instead of the game data :-|

I didn't do it yet because I'm not sure if there's a demand for it here at Mapcore, but if everyone's up for it, sure I guess we can create another thread where it's safe to discuss spoiler content.

For now, on this one, feel free to discuss gameplay related stuff but keep it spoiler free, use your best judgement!! In case of doubt, spoiler tag it.

Also, fucking hell this woman got some pipes

Hmm, Basically I NEED TO discuss the Prologue I NEED TO!

Other than that, this game is fucking smooth as melted butter, last game I was hoping to hop in and play was the Witcher 3 :P and now this.
What I don't like is that I'm playing Jack Bauer, still can't get used to this new voice. Other, I really like Troy Baker, but the Ocelot in this game, is way off the tracks. Got this Troy's face and voice is way different that I would expect.
I know that every MGS game got a theme going on, like the snake eater was Bond'ish game, and here every mission is like a TV series episode, and seeing after every mission cast, directors, quest stars ect is kinda annoying.
Other than that I see how this is Diablo like addicting, to expand your Outer Heaven!
The best part is, that many years ago, when I was reading the story of MGS and while playing games, I didn't know WHY DA FUCK, Big Boss wants (and what actually is) Outer Heaven, but Peace Walker and this, explains it and it makes perfect sense.

The prologue was pretty terrible IMO, after that it's been brilliant tho.

All this praise it tempting me to buy it and give it a go. So I went on YouTube and watched a lot of the story videos and cinematics to bring up to speed.

It was like having smoked a lot of Amnesia. It sounded and looked awesome but it made fuck all sense to me.

There's so many good things to say about this game that it's not even worth trying to think of them all. I'm probably biased because I grew up being obsessed with MGS. I even had my own sneaking suit when I was a kid. I think I'm really confident in saying that MGS is probably the best game series ever made. Every release of MGS has pushed the envelope and evolved so much. Yeah, I'm probably just nerding out right now and not really being realistic or reasonable - but that's okay. It's really hard to genuinely fall in love with games, especially once you get older and start taking games seriously. Most of the time I'll play a game I'll try to analyze it and try to look at the critical issues - it's really rare that a game will grab me in and make me forget all of that. MGSV is such a good game that it makes me actually feel like a kid again. It brings back that pure joy and excitement of wanting to play the game every chance I get. It's hard to recommend the game to someone who doesn't have a connection with the older games, it probably doesn't have as strong of an impact. Still though, I really think if you care about games you should find a way to play MGSV as soon as possible.

Agreed, didn't get along with the prologue at all, was frustratingly slow to get through and felt like the start of an entirely different game, bearing in mind I'm not a MGS fan and I got this one as I thought I was signing up for some open world desert based stealth. Anyway, once that was all out the way and I got dropped in Afghanistan I actually started to enjoy it, will look forward to continuing over the next few nights

Anyone else find it incredibly impressive that *every* *single* light in this game is shootable, or you can turn it off via some other means.

    This game is fantastic.
