MGS has always had absolutely spot-on gameplay, literally defining the rules of how a stealth game should be made. Pretty much every time I play something with stealth components I think 'Well, they got a lot of it right but they're missing X from MGS that'd make it so much better'. I think the hype about its stories and graphics often makes people forget that the gameplay is really, really satisfying.

Whether or not you can also get on board with the series' characters, world, and stories is what'll make the difference between you hating the series because the cutscenes, etc are always getting in the way, and absolutely loving it. I personally fall on the latter side; I think the MGS stories are retarded but ingenious. They somehow take deep issues (nuclear proliferation in MGS1, information/internet control in MGS2, the madness of war and friends becoming enemies the next day in MGS3, and a world dominated by wars between private armies and computers in MGS4) while also being OTT to the point of hilarity.

FUCK! I want this so bad... Been waiting for this game since 2008. I can't believe my all time favorite franchise is back!

Liam, if you've tried to play MGS and didn't like it, then move on with your life, maybe it just isn't for you man.

This looks like the first Splinter Cell with more interactivity. So I am sure I can play it. (Tried the very first on PC after playing Splinter Cell and I couldn't even beat the first room even if i did the tutorial, MGS was clunky as hell at the time.)

Nothing new here, but god damn looking over these gets me excited about what will surely be a silly but thrilling story. They look in-engine too.

Kojima Explains Why 'Ground Zeroes' is Needed for MGS V

In an interview with Famitsu, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima talks about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and tells why Ground Zeroes is needed for both gameplay and story.

Ground Zeroes is planned for release as a prologue before the main game is unleashed, The Phantom Pain, in order to get players accommodated to an open-world MGS game. Here is what Kojima explained as reported by Polygon.

"The main section [of the game] is just really big and you can have enemies attack you from 360 degrees around," Kojima said. "As time passes, your reactions in-game will change depending on player actions. If you do a mission, you'll be tired out. You'd be exhausted after a round of airsoft, right? So let's take an hour-long break…something sort of like that. So to keep people from thinking 'This isn't MGS!', we'll limit the amount available to you at first and set a static time and weather pattern. So you'll get to play this open-world, highly free MGS in those conditions."

Sounds fair, as Metal Gear Solid V does seem different when compared to past games. Take a look at a trailer of The Phantom Pain.

Ground zeroes as seperate game spring 2014, this is odd

I don't think it is, and if that means i'll get me some more MGS, then bring it!

If they want to release Ground Zeroes for like 20/30 bucks and it's like a 5 to 6 ours, more linear experience but still a good introductory experience to the main MGS5 game, then fuck it, bring it my body is ready! If you think about it, it's a genious idea.

Ground zeroes and MGS5 seem to be like two very diferent games that share the same game mechanic if that makes any sense. It's just that Ground Zeroes is a more linear experience (just like an oldschool MGS game) and MGS5 is a open world MGS experience.

odd in sense that i wasn't expectin that, if it's not like 2x 60$ but all together about 60$ than i'm very OK with that

So much bullshit in the comment section! People should spend at least a couple fucking minutes researching a topic before posting crap all over the internet, fuck me...

    Quote

Lots of a uninformed comments on this article. It has been confirmed by Kojima that Ground Zeroes will include several stages in Cuba (open world stages & military bases to explore) , and several missions that will allow you to build your army, the same way you do on Peace Walker. The content that you add to your army on Ground Zeroes (soldiers, tanks, helicopters), will be transferred to your army in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. 30$ for a prologue that will include several missions on different stages with day to night cycle, it's not that much. What it's sad is that people like to complain without making some actual research.

    There, can people STFU now?
