The coach is benching the heart! It's Kuyt, I honestly think that if he were starting the entire Dutch team would perform better; he's just a really hard working, top quality player. Robben should stay on too but, they need to fit Kuyt in somewhere I think.
That's so true. But the entire setup doesn't make sense. Van Bommel, with although respect, is over the hill and can't keep up anymore. Plus, I was never impressed by him but they are counting on him to make the game. Van Persie is a great player, but in this team he should not be the center forward. He should be on the flank, Huntelaar in center and either Kuyt or Robben on the other flank.
The defense should be replaced almost completely. Since we lost van Bronckhorst, it's basically not there anymore. But the coach won't listen, he's sticking to the same setup for years. Not going forward is going backwards. I really hope it's over this Sunday because who wants to qualify for the next round like that? It would only be delaying the execution.

Spain ruled the first half. Where the hell is Iniesta?

Why all the hate against Portugal?

I don't get why people say that our players are always whining, we don't do it any more or less than players from other teams.
Anyway I'm still confident that we will reach at least the semi-finals

And really bad result for Italy, even if they win the last game they might not get through to the quarter-finals! What a shame.
-
oh my god France is playing as bad as eire!!!

I'm all for Portugal getting through

True that it didn't work out too well for Italy, but Croatia is no push-over! Croatia is actually 4 places ahead of Italy in international standings, they played well; I think they earned the tie, although Italy appears to be the better team by a bit.

Why even ask? It's easy to hate Portugal, especially if you're Dutch. You don't remember the last game between Holland and Portugal?

Check 2:00, Petit has some odd 'aggressive behaviors'

I honestly hope that this last game, regardless of the outcome, will be a friendly game. But based on our history and the fact that the Dutch are extremely frustrated, I expect TOTAL WAR. On the other hand, since they haven't been willing to fight the first two games, perhaps it will be an easy push over for Portugal. But I'm definitely leaning towards the first rather then the second.
About calling them whining pussies. Yes, perhaps I'm biased. Maybe someone neutral can give his opinion on whether or not I'm right?

So Greece and Czech got through
who would've guessed that outcome?Greece has been a little bit hit or miss this tournament but they were solid in the last group match against Russia. Russia may have had the most possession but I think Greece earned that win; their defense was solid and they created a number of good attacking opportunities (probably more than Russia had).
As for the Czech game, I would have liked for Poland to win, but Czech deserved it; they owned that game.
TOMORROW: I predict that Portugal beats Netherlands (only just, not a blow out), and Germany beats Denmark 3 - 1 ish.
-
I completely agree. I never expected Greece to get through. But like you said, both Czech and Greece won deservingly so. I don't want to watch tonights game, but my wife insists. It's gonna be bad.
-
for some reason, i still think we're gonna make it. we can beat portugal and germany will surely beat denmark. we're not gonna win euro though, that i don't believe. i'm guessing germany
-
Even if we don't make it, it would be nice to win atleast one game

-
Or at least go out with a good match, with some spirit. this game, WE change ronaldo's haircut

LOL, that surely would be a great feat!

I'm curious, the games are played here at 2:45 pm and I think you guys are at least 8 hours ahead? Are the games seriously being played at 10:45 pm ish? It just seems so crazy late to start a football match.
-
well it's 21:45 in ukraine, in germany it's 20:45 and in uk it's 19:45 (or 9, 8 and 7 pm). there's another slot at 7pm (ukrainian time, 5pm uk time) which is why they play so late. if you'd show any matches before that, all of europe would still be in their offices working.
-
I don't watch football one evening and now Greece and the Czech Republic made it to the quarter finals
What the hell happened?Quote from Minosbest football match ever~

Yea 7pm makes a lot of sense to me, I suppose I just don't tend to get out to live sporting events often enough to have thought about it (not nearly as many around here worth attending, and they're at least 2 hours drive from where I live t.t).
-
okay, we lost everything. holland does not deserve to go to the next round.
