Your assuming that its unjust to make a call based on the perspectives of three different men (with different vantage points) if they are not necessarily correct. Wrong calls can be made in all sports, even with video replays. Also, the existence of the sport is definitely not played just for financial gain; certainly there are people who stand to gain a great deal from the sport, but there are obviously more people who are willing to pay for this entertainment than there are people profiting from it. The business side of the sport is not a factor I consider when I think about how the game should be judged, football is entertainment and thus entertainment value is absolutely to be placed above 'technical accuracy', which you seem to think is the fine line between fairness and unfairness. The refs make calls for both teams a like, there is no imbalance here.
-
yeah video judgment would take away from the authority of the ref and would also slow down the game, because everyone would start arguing over every decision not video backed.
The referee does a good job most of the time and if he misses something on one side, chances are good he's missing something on the other side.
germany v portugal was one hell of a nerve wrecker. actually the referee gave the german team a free-kick when they already scored and the goal became invalid instead - the entire pub I was in went :ssj: portugal did a pretty good game though overall, judging from the Ned-Den match, I'd say it's gonna be germany and portugal at the quarter finals.

Like Group B didn't get more exciting after Denmark beat NL

-
Well no offence but so far none of the teams in group B impressed me. GER - POR was a very dull game. Probably not for the fans, but both teams didn't convince. Holland was really poor. No fight in them. Denmark didn't play good either, but atleast they know how to score. I think they were even more amazed then us that they won.
I really hope POR goes out the first round. I hate that team.
-
The first round is always boring, everyone is being super careful.
-
DEN - NED: Surprising 1:0
GER - POR: Lucky 1:0
The German team will have to kick it up a notch if they want to go far.
Spain vs Italy is an interesting match-up and about to go on now.

crap german television has massive problems with the providing an internet livestream
"filling buffer" every other minute...edit: just saw this: [Blocked Image: http://www.abload.de/img/pixelpartybeimzdf16mg6.png]

Italy vs Spain was a quality match (Beloteli aside). Was a very even match; I'd like to see them meet in the semi finals or finals later

Yea, Germany - Portugal was ok; their performances were rather disappointing, but you have to give props to players like Ozil, he played really well (UNLIKE PODOLSKI). For the most part, each match has at least been competitive, even if they didn't play as well as they should/ could.
I don't dislike Portugal, but I do prefer Netherlands and Germany from that group.
-
True, all matches were entertaining so far. Quality tournament. I'm just saying that as a team, they didn't impress. Good individual players though. Today, Spain and Italy were nice to see. Attractive game. I also liked Ireland and Kroatie, will versus skill.
-
Portugal had to play a very defensive game against Germany which is not what the team is used to do (well except for Raul Meireles from Chelsea
), it was the only way we could get a decent result considering our midfield sucks and our strikers (except for Ronaldo but he rarely plays as a striker with this coach) don't score any goals. Most of our chances came from our wingers (mainly Ronaldo and Nani) and from Fábio Coentrão (left back) who played amazingly well.I'm guessing we will play more open and aggressive on the next game. Also hoping that the coach changes the midfield, and that he uses Nelson Oliveira as a striker from the beginning since he is the only striker we've that can actually score a goal.
Anyway, this Euro is being great so far, some really nice games and interesting results. I'm betting on Greece, Russia, Germany, Portugal (fingers crossed), Spain, Italy, France, and probably England (although they're not playing that well I think they're still miles away from either Sweden or Ukraine) as the ones moving on to the quarter finals. As for the semi finals, Portugal (we're going to play against Russia probably, and I think we can easily win that game) Germany, Spain and Italy. And for the final, imo it will be Spain against Germany, with Germany winning.

I'm shocked how well Ukraine managed to defeat Sweden. Those guys were fast like rabbits on steroids, all the action was like a radom shots without a plan but still it was a nice game and without crying...
GG UKR

Zlatan couldn't carry SWE to victory this time.
-
They both had some amazing shots and ideas, kind of weird that the UKR players kept lying on the grass so often. I think they are going to be in the quarter finals (as well as France in that group). Good for them, bad for their political situation maybe

After having watched Russia's first match I'm not sure if I can agree with that.
-
UKR beating SWE only surprised me in that I recognize a number of the SWE players as being good players, and I don't know many of the UKR players. But when I watched the game I was not surprised SWE lost at all; they're tactics were awful; the only time they really played well was a little bit during the start of the second half and the end, and both times their team moved forward and there mid-fielders played mid-field properly. That's the most significant issue the SWE team had, otherwise I think they could have won or tied that game.
-
Holly Molly, I've never expected to watch such a nice game from Polish players. I know I shouldn't write that as a Pole but come on, so many years and nothing and now this. Borat would say "it's a very nice!"

I really don't like crybabies from Grece with that Salpingidis on the first place and I have no idea what happend to Czech team, they can play better.
Still, very nice games today

Thats' right Seir, we srsl have chance to advance
-
