Greetings guys, i just create my list of what i'm going purchase to build my PC, i just want to hear from you any advice: may be i can change some parts of this list e.t.c

Here is a list (total $14.000):

    [Blocked Image: http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2125/99529017.png]

I have read throw forums about Quadro vs nvidia gtx. Quadro is like overpriced, but gtx has remedies with Maya e.t.c and it's like gaming card. So i can not really pick the right video card because as i said there is a lot of debate.

    Programs that i'm using now:

    [*]
    [*:vuefny5o] Luxology Modo
    [*:vuefny5o] Zbrush
    [*:vuefny5o] UDK
    [*:vuefny5o] After effects
    [*:vuefny5o] 3ds max/maya (may be in future)[/list]

    Thank you!

Holy Christ! Welcome to MapCore, but like Klein I'm too bewildered at the price tag to comment further at this time. I'll come back in a bit!

I think if you throw a spoiler on there, I'm pretty sure that rig would do 200MPH on the highway.

yeah I built a PC recently with similar (if not higher) specs minus the extremely excessive 64GB Ram (seriously, you do not need more than 16gb!), and with a 1tb drive + an OCZ 120gb ssd and it only came to around $3000

Also, dont waste your money on a quadro unless you are doing some serious CAD work.

Why is it so expensive? You can build a good PC that is adequate for all your 3D work stuff for about 10% of that money.

Also what will help you much more with your work then all this fancy hardware would be a second monitor.

isn't it man's greatest dream to have a computer that would also drive and cook for you?

expensive comp, but hey, at least you get 2 free gifts

Btw, OP... I just recently bought a new computer which can run pretty much any of the latest games at max settings. For less than $2000. If you want I'll post a list of what I bought. I think with the hardware you listed you're just throwing away money to be honest...

Hopefully this doesn't derail the thread, but have any of you ever tried http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ ?

It's basically a "can you run it" site that checks if you can run a particular game. They said they got a huge bump in traffic with Diablo III release. Just curious if anyone here has heard of it or used it and if so, what do you think of it?

Honestly man, a bunch of stuff on this list doesn't make any sense to me.

Why would you do a RAID 1 with those drives when you have a 3TB backup drive, if you're going for speed go RAID 0. Also, buying a 3TB backup drive in USB 2.0 is kind of crazy, get at least USB 3.0 or better yet eSATA. I don't see a mouse quoted on there, and you have a cheap basic keyboard, why not cut back on the memory (really no need for more than 16GB), and get a quality keyboard and mouse.

Just the things that stick out. I don't know what the heck you're doing that needs that much horsepower, but Toeachizown.

I think your processor is overkill for dev stuff. Raw processing grunt isn't that in-demand unless you do a bunch of renders. I think a 2600k would probably be fine for a few years at least, and have plenty of potential for overclocking.. and are only $300, not $1000.

That gfx card is $4000 by itself... I understand what you're saying about potential issues with maya with gaming graphics cards, but.. I don't think hardly anyone here runs workstation gfx cards, and I don't think there are that many issues to warrant a $4k card. I have a workstation card in my work laptop, but an ATI FirePro 5280(?) I think. It does fine for me.

And yeah, I concur with everyone else... 64gig is about 8 times too much. I have 8gb in my workstation and the only time I've ever seen it get consumed is when Solidworks locked up and started devouring memory. I usually am at around 4gig used, occasionally up to six if I have large assemblies open and a fifty tabs in chrome. Maybe get 16 if you are really feeling like going for some overkill.

And yes, SSD. If you're willing to spend that kind of cash, get a nice 512gb ssd and be done with it.

But hey, if you've got $14k burning a hole in your pocket and you already have a nice car.. sure, why not!

Was this thread some weird kind of troll or something? He's not even visited since posting it and it looks like he posted the same thing on a few other 3D art sites.

Maybe D3ads can decipher his Twitter. https://twitter.com/#!/KirilsArt
