So what's the status of DayZ Standalone these days? Can I go in a just focus on looting towns? I don't mind too much if zeds are still broken and navmesh is shit, I just wanna go in and find goodies! Does that work? Or should I still stay away because of other reasons?
DayZ Mod for ARMA II

As far as I know loot spawning is still super shitty, which kind of breaks the rest of the game. They made loot spread around the map a lot more evenly than the mod, which is nice in theory because it gives new players more of a chance since they don't have to brave the Cherno/Elektro sniper death zone just to start off. But in practice this means that the players are super spread out as well, so you generally go a lot longer without seeing anyone since there aren't a few areas where everyone congregates.

Hope they add some system for fresh spawn to spawn together, it's always so boring the first hour of the game to just walk along the coast to find your friends
-
+1, they should definetly take advice from Wastelands mods where you can select your spawn location and even create ingame groups,

I played this last week. After an hour and a half of my life spent in the game... I have decided that I'd rather play Minecraft. But maybe I'm just not hardcore enough to devote time to looking for pepzi. The zombies didn't scare me. And the other people are ... far.... away... and when we find each other... what? Some of my really close friends are addicts to this game. I just don't get it.

Most people find it addictive since you can be shot at any point by another player and lose all the stuff you've worked hard searching for. Seeing another player is always a "deer in headlights" moment since you don't know if they've seen you and you don't know if they're going to be friendly or hostile. It's the PvP people play it for.
But yeah, the zombies suck. In the mod days they were much more of a threat and every gunshot sent every zombie nearby your way. Nowadays they are just a minor annoyance.

You guys should try out the Arma 3 version called 'Breaking Point'. It's actually much better than the DayZ standalone. It has cars and other vehicles in it! And the zombies are actually really good. They're more slow and shambling types, and they arent particularly dangerous, but they are common enough that you have to double check whether that figure in the distance is a player or a zombie! Also, they are attracted to gunshots from far away which is really cool.

Imo No More Room in Hell is clearly better than both.
ZPS is just a PVP game, while NMRIH focus more on cooperation and has a survival aspect where one bite can kill you and you have to wisely use your ammo. Also, I like that in NMRIH you have to complete objectives and "puzzles" to progress. I remember playing with friends, onone of the few maps, we were dying every 10 metters, but every 10 metters we were learning a new tip to finish the mission.
And this is what i blame Dayz for, a bit, it's just a huge PVP map with no end game. Of course you could find a Roleplay server and hope for some background, but it won't fill the lack of gameplay this game suffers. I would like (other than good perfs, lots of well coded AI, good inventory et controls) some side missions like rescue civilians, defend base, safe town for trade, more puzzle in cities instead of linear paths. I guess it's not the aim of Dayz anymore, but i wish a game like that exist.

Damn, 154 hours here, and i thought i played it a lot

Alright today i met a russian guy in dayz. After the proper courtesies of the introduction, he told me i had nice tits ( i was playing a black woman ), so i asked him if he was liking my big fat black ass - i was kneeling down and he was behind me going : ohh yeah that's nice ass uh uhhhh uhhh yeahh, with a very strong russian accent. Then we politely told each other goodbye and we went on our way.
I.. I don't feel .. i mean this is the first time i experience virtual copulation.. is it... is it normal ? Is this what dayz is about ? What am i doing with my life ?

So they've reached version 0.5 and I haven't tried it for 6 months, anyone played lately? wonder what the state of the game is

-
Hum, like what ?
Perfs ? Zombie pathing ? Zombie numbers ? Inventory ? Nah, not really the core of the game...
They added "hunting", few guns and T-shirts. And some more towns.
