I'm receiving some interesting feedbacks on my map (thanks, Youme) and I decided to make that one an entry for the Challenge (and create more maps later):

    Play Competurn:

Feel free to give any feedbacks, right here or at the map page.

Glad to see you guys are rolling already

Does anyone have any idea how these "collections" work? It looks like we could still put together a big ol' happy MapCore pack that way for ease of downloading. Once we sort that out we can finalize our submission guidelines and all that fun stuff.

So I finally started toying around with the thing. Made a 3 stage layout map base, then started goofing around to make the puzzle for the first stage. After some time came up with the idea of creating a very big remotely operated and overly complicated cube delivery machine:

    [Blocked Image: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x192/AtsEst/OverloadingPeTI_01.jpg]

Editing became a slug, the rebuilding process pretty much froze my PC and it took 10 minutes just to kill the process with task manager. Despite all of this I'm totally hooked :bananawrench:

Btw has anybody else experienced a bug where when zooming with the mouse wheel in the editor the whole map dissapears from view and the only way (at least to my knowledge) to get it ot show again is to reopen it?

All right, here is a RULES UPATE regarding submissions:

The SUBMISSION THREAD will be opened late Thursday May 19th. You will have from then until 11:59 PM (US Central) on Sunday, May 20th to post your submission(s).

Here are the updated submission guidelines:

    • [*:3jv021mu]Your level MUST be posted to the Steam Workshop and include mention of the "MapCore Perpetual Testing Challenge" in its description
[*:3jv021mu]Post this link in the submission thread (Please keep all your submissions to a single post). In addition to the download link, each level must also have:

      • [*:3jv021mu]1 in-editor screenshot
        [*:3jv021mu]1 in-game screenshot

At the end of the submission deadline, all entries will be compiled into a MapCore Perpetual Testing Challenge on the Steam Workshop. Only test chambers that have been posted to the Submission Thread AND include the "MapCore Perpetual Testing Challenge" in their description will be added to this Collection. Then, the MapCore Collection will be unleashed on the world and we'll all be pretty pleased with ourselves.

    Any questions/comments?

    Neat!

    Questions:

    • Do we need to also add the link to the forum topic of the Challenge?

    • Will there be a "winner" in this challenge?

I think that grouping our maps into a single Collection is a great way to make ourselves immortal mapping Gods and ease the process of downloading/ subscribing the chambers.

    Questions:

    • Do we need to also add the link to the forum topic of the Challenge?

ANSWER - No you do not, you just need to post a link of your workshop entry into the challenge thread on mapcore.

    • Will there be a "winner" in this challenge?

    ANSWER - No

New one from me, something about what KFS said resonated with me, so I tried to use as much white as possible more akin to the original portal.

I don't think this one is as strong as my others.

Had a bit of fun with this one, still being worked on. I'm trying to sell something that is; 1 teaspoon trolling, 1 cup outside the box...

Is there a way to publish a map without the five minute Cave Johnson intro speech? It's already old hearing it the second time. I don't know if it was intentional but

    Quote

I ran past the perched turret after activating the laser by putting a portal on the wall adjacent the button pit. Maybe that is power to the player, but I felt like I was exploiting the puzzle.

    Power to the player.

    Quote

There are a few ways to solve the last bit after hitting the button.Main thing I wanted to get across to the player was using the frankencube to cross the turrets. Did you do that? or did you solve it another way?

I placed portals into the room, then put my back to one portal and set down the frankencube so he walked through the portal and out the other end. Then he walked past all the lasers and fell into the button pit to turn on the laser. Then i put one portal where the laser dead-ends on the wall, and the other on the white surface closest the door. Then you can jump through the portal (and over the laser) and run to the wall next to the turret on the ledge before it can see you. Then place the other portal so the laser routes into the laser catch, bingo!

This collection is a fantastic idea. The editor is so much better than Hammer for exploring puzzle possibilities, despite its limitations. The rapid iteration time is a godsend.

I've made two chambers so far, both intended for this collection:

    Three Cube Tango (http://%7boption%7d)

    Island Hopping (http://%7boption%7d)

Has anyone had any issues building levels in the new editor? I can't for the life of me get anything to build - I'm wondering if maybe I have a bad registry path set somewhere from having moved my Steam folder to a new HDD recently?

If you have the regular portal 2 editor installed give this a shot

"Remember to stay in cover! This puzzle might be quite tricky. You have to multi-use the puzzle elements you see."

Tried to do something original with the rail platforms in this map.

magdernader: That was the issue I was having, got it sorted out!

Here's my first; I may not get three of these done in time for the challenge as I've been sick and we're moving on Friday, but I'll see what I can manage. It's deliberately simple, but I like how it turned out.
