It's funny that the CVS article on wikipedia says on the first paragraph that "These symptoms can be further aggravated by improper lighting conditions (i.e. glare [1] or bright overhead lighting) or air moving past the eyes (e.g. overhead vents, direct air from a fan).".

yeah, but even before it says any of that, it says it's temporary, which was basically the point in referring to CVS in the first place.

my dad's an eye doctor, and i actually asked him about working in front of a monitor all the time a few weeks ago. he basically denied that lighting was an issue as said above, but also said that prevailing wisdom has it that prolonged close-work (on anything, not just a monitor), is a cause of myopia.

so make sure to station your monitor 2 meters away.

-If browsing the internet at work, always do it on your second screen and have at least one reference image open in a tab. That way, if a boss comes over, you can quickly click the tab, and then pretend you were looking at reference.

-Always talk to the people next to you on the company Instant Messaging program instead of in person. Social interaction is a difficult and time consuming process.

    - If you do decide to jump in and try in person social interaction, make sure you yell across the room, especially if it's a complex subject important only to you and the other person that will require a few minutes of back and forth.

-If there's crunch time, make everyone in the office stay for 'moral support' until the build is out, even if they don't have anything they need to finish for the build. This greatly improves morale.

Record a 1 hour video of your desktop when you're working, then loop it all day every day. Paint eyes on your eyelids and wait for retirement.

Sit atleast 3 meters away from your monitor, when people give you grief about not actually being able to do anything productive, show your doctors note.

when nodding off in meetings, try to follow it up with more nods so people think you've just got a good beat in your head.

    - As actions speak louder than words, when someone (and especially your superiors) have to take a decision : if nothing has been decided yet, everyone can easily change their opinions if the idea was a bad one. But once a decision has been taken clearly by someone, if it's bad, you will have all the hardest time making him stop. Because that person will rather like take you in the hole with him rather than going back on his act.

    A good point.

Also, if you know your boss is off, it's fine to be 15-20 mins late. Or even just take the entire day off without consequence.

    - Take up smoking so you can take long breaks every 2-3 hours and not get blamed for it

    - Bring your own coffee or tea because the work coffee/tea is shit

    - Set up auto defrag schedule every day because syncing thousands of assets every day will make your PC suffer
