    so the next announce should be source engine 2? perhaps as a competitor to UDK, unity etc.

    No, I guess it will be game sharing system. The "O" symbol was the OS, the "[O]" symbol is a box for the OS so "O+O" is like OS+OS, something like multiplayer or LAN. I guess it's game sharing, there was some talking about this lately.

    I think that HL3, Source 2 etc. are clearly Valve stuff, and it won't be announced on Steam party.

    If you want. But Steam and SteamOS work well with gamepads, too. Stay tuned, though - we have some more to say very soon on the topic of input.

    I guess we'll see a pad soon as well. Gabe and valve have always been interested in biometric input, and so on, so this is a obvious one.

    I really can't understand this fetish for controllers; but for some time, they are talking about how the (bigpicture and) steamOS is designed to be used with controllers and works so well...

    I really can't understand this fetish for controllers;

    It's how you communicate with the game man, it's more important than people think. Controllers nowadays still suck compared to the level of precision you have with a mouse. Carmack touched on this on this year keynote (or was it last years? I forgot).

    Controllers need better latency, among other things. In fact, this is one of the main reasons I'm excited for next gen, PS4 controller is great, it has that touch pad which should work like those mouse imput touch pads you see on laptops and it will have many more uses.

    Same for the xbones controller, minus the fancy stuff the Dualshock4 has.

    My bet is that valve will try and innovate and include biometric readers on their controller, it's been rumored for ages now: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q…r+valve&spell=1

    exactly!

    I grew up playing on mouse+keyboard and I don't enjoy playing the most stuff on controllers. FPS on controller is just an nightmare (to me).

    biometric stuff must be some kind of NSA requirement to hardware manufacturers.

    i like the touch pad idea on ps4 controller, at least is a new try, right? But i didn't used it yet to see if its great.

    In regards to this whole deal (new 'console', new OS and new pad), any company that seeks to challenge a borderline monopoly is OK in my book! I hope they succeed and kick ass with it with a vengeance. As much as I love Windows, they've been dominating for way too long and getting lazy in many things, remember ultimately it's the consumer that gains the most with inter-company competition.

    I would rather play a first person shooter on a mouse and keyboard, but I would also rather play a fighting game on a stick, and a platformer on a controller. Different input devices are better at different things. I would also much rather use a pad in front of a TV and this is the space Valve is trying to move into (PS3 supported a mouse and keyboard, but I don't know how many games did).

    I don't see how the touch pad on the PS4 is going to change anything for FPS accuracy given where it is on the pad. You're still going to be awkwardly tweaking your controllers analogue nipples next generation.

    So, Sony and Valve are both going to be supporting PC-like precision thanks to all this touch shit... but not Microsoft. Well done once again proving your complete lack of foresight MS, lol.

    It also prooved they're living under a rock, they're own big rock. Biometric and touchpads on controllers is a subjects that's being discussed for a few years now, it would be the logic step. Look at the Vita the touch screen and back touch pad is amazing.
