It'll be interesting to hear Valve's presentation. We don't really know the full extent of their sales pitch or their "angle" (i.e. what would make this particular device "the shit" etc).

Perhaps we are missing some piece of the puzzle that makes this device stand out. I mean, come on, it's Valve?

TBH, Steam will probably be the most successful on the basis that most gamers already have a Steam library filled to the brim with games.

The downside to piston is that it runs on linux, which even some of valves games doesn't support (yet). I'm looking at you DotA2.

Hmm. That's true. Maybe they're jumping the gun a little but, like Puddy said, they probably have something up their sleeve.

"The internet is super smart. If you do something that is cool, that's actually worth people's time, then they'll adopt it. If you do something that's not cool and sucks, you can spend as many marketing dollars as you want, [they] just won't."

If other companies had this mentality, we would live in a much better world.

Yeah, and now, this move. Game sharing on steam platform.

Seems logical this approach, even when talking about consoles, right?

someone just got fired at Redmond.

    Oh god.

    http://www.valvetime.net/threads/update…tracker.243580/

Valve's project tracker leaked, includes L4D3, HL3, Source 2, and much more. Sounds like the HL3 group is small compared to the others, suggesting development is early stages. Maybe waiting for Source 2 to be fully ready?

Nice the borrowing option, if they go through.

It would be nice to also give a game to someone else, i mean, there are a couple of games I didn't like and used just a few hours that clutter my list and i'd be happy to give to someone for free.

    Lol, anyone seen this? https://twitter.com/BreenGrub

It's by the HL1/HL2 writer. I don't think it's officially sanctioned/canon but it's basically meant to be Breen after the events of HL2 after having been turned into an advisor grub.

big leaks are almost valve's main pr move at this point. it's ingenius in the sense that they're not forcing people's interest but people are breaking their doors down to learn more. it's like if a bakery cooked food so good people smashed the windows to get in before they open... ridiculous

hmm Kelly Bailey on HL3? Last I heard he left Valve sometime after HL2...

Worth remembering that Valve's system has been going for years so some people attached to projects will be for archival purposes. That said, it's entirely possible (if not likely) that Bailey will be contracted or re-hired to work on the HL3 audio.
