    Environment Artist

Bungie is looking for journeymen and fresh talent eager to join an incredible team of project artists responsible for adding an unprecedented level of style and scale to our next AAA title.

Estimated Duration: Long term, project (duration may be shortened or lengthened based on business needs).

    Responsibilities:

    • Translate approved concept art into 3D elements of gameplay and cinematic spaces

    • Take geometry from rough to finished states

    • UV map and paint custom texture sets for environment geometry

    • Light spaces using proprietary lighting tools

    • Create and place detail objects, decals, dynamic lights, and animated objects

    • Collaborate with experienced artists toward common milestones

    Required Skills:

    • Strong communication skills

    • Understand light, value, composition, color, staging and detail in environmental design

    • Good sense of scale and spatial awareness

    • Understand how the environment affects gameplay

    • Undergraduate degree or completion of a certificate program that provides an education in the fundamentals of art

    • Knowledge of Photoshop, Maya, Max and other 2D/3D applications

    • Professional experience working on a current generation title

    • A passion for games and creating environments

Please send your application to [email protected].

Submissions for Environment Art positions must include a cover letter, resume, and portfolio URL (or physical copy). Portfolios must be accompanied by a shot breakdown: work objective, elements you personally created, contributions from other artists, and the software/techniques used.

We prefer to review portfolio materials via the web. CD or DVD portfolios are also acceptable. Physical media should be labeled with your name, email address, and the job opening to which you are applying.

The ideal portfolio is focused on your strongest work and clearly demonstrates your ability as an environment artist. We strongly encourage you to include examples from personal projects in addition to professional work. We can judge your design abilities more clearly if your portfolio contains original hard sci-fi or fantasy themes, rather than cartoony or derivative works (modeling from photo reference, for example). Please select the smallest number of images necessary to demonstrate each project.
