I'm looking for a programmer to help me create a small sci-fi pyschological horror/story-driven game. If you're familiar with Amnesia: The Dark Descent or Dear Esther ... perhaps even Radiator 1-1, that is a gameplay experience to what I am aiming for. I don't have a lot of details to give yet, because nothing is set in stone. I'm going to have to see who I can get interested and involved ...

    About me

I work as an Environment/Technical Artist at Creative Assembly in the UK. I worked on Zombie Panic:Source for about 3 years (most played HL2 mod I think) and also spent a year doing contract work for Contagion after that. I've spoken at the GamesIndustry.biz annual Careers Fair about how to pursue a career in games art. I'm helping judge the British Academy award for Artistic Achievement in videogames this year (BAFTA.org).

    What I'm looking for

Someone who knows how to code! I could potentially do a lot of it myself, but I think I'm already going to be overloaded dealing with the art. Ideally I'd love to find a very experienced programmer who knows C++ to help me nail down a design prototype. Really though, I'd be happy to speak to anyone who is interested in helping me.

    What I'm trying to make

A story-driven narrative experience which explores aspects of our humanity and morality, interspersed with sections of puzzle-based gameplay. If you are familiar with the movies Solaris or Sunshine, that is a good starting point.

    How to get in touch

If you're interested in helping out, I'd love to speak to you! The best way to get in touch is to email me at [email protected]

    Thanks

I cant help you out, because of time issues, but I can give you a tip. You should try to prototype your game in Unity. Use example scripts and what not to get something that moves around in a world so that you have screen shots and stuff to lure programmers in with. Its also good that unity only requires some basic knowledge of javascript or c#, and not total mastery of c++ (because c++ is way harder)

Just look at what peris managed to pull off in unity with no real (not that I know of) programmer experience. Or what Warby managed to hack together before I joined the ponh project.

If you cant do this on your own I'm pretty sure you'll spend most of your time looking for programmers instead of creating the game. Programmers are usually very hard to come by, because most of them prefer to create their own ideas instead of yours.

    Best of luck.

Yea I know where you're coming from man, I've had a fair few programmers interested so far, but all fell through due to time / work constraints .. (fuck you games industry!) just thought I'd throw a post up here on the off-chance that someone's interested. If I find someone... sweet. If not I'll be hammering UnrealKismet I guess.
