It's pretty nuts how bad shit is right now. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a renascence in smaller/indie devs & mod teams putting out quality work. With all these studios crashing to the ground, maybe we're finally about to get back to making games that are driven by passion and not the almighty dollar???

    or politics,

srsly tho, this will be great for video games at large. We're already seeing an explosion of great indie games, and I can see the return of 20 to 40 people team. I bet your top 3 favorite games ever were built by a team of about that many people.

I don’t understand why we’re talking of the “return of the indies”… as if they died, when?

Since the “indie revolution” led by Jonathan Blow & co haven’t we seen a constant stream of great titles from small teams?

If anything, I haven’t seen any standout performance from the AAA industry.

HP is talking about the middle ground between teams of <5 and the AAA teams with 100/1000+ employees.

That is where the scope can be decent and the project itself not muddled down by corporate politics.

Off the top of my head I can think of a bunch of companies that are showing off the industry, making an impact, whilst maintaining a lean footprint (at least by the release of their noteworthy titles)

Housemarque (Returnal) ~80 devs Kojima Productions ~80 devs IO Interactive (Hitman 2016) ~70 devs Media Molecule (Dreams) ~50 devs Hello Games (No Mans Sky) ~25 devs Unknown Worlds (Subnautica) ~25 devs Bluepoint Games (the best remasters we’ve seen) ~70 devs

and there’s surely more, or many have grown after their successes etc.

What I mean is it doesn’t seem to me we’ve seen a big shift since the previously mentioned “indiepocalypse”, it’s more a continuous cycle of people establishing new companies and achieving success despite size, thanks to better tech available, more talent available (including outsourcing studios). So I don’t expect to see a whole lot of companies all of a sudden pop up, maybe a gentle increase. Ofc great if I’m wrong!

Had a laugh at the flip-off bit, shows how little they cared about the source material.

I just cant get over how much of a shitty asset flip it looks like. It somehow looks worse than the original(s).

    It just looks... cheap.

Anyone played GTA5 with bluetooth headphones? I'm having problems with both my Microsoft Surface and Sony XM3. Everything plays fine in windows or other games, but GTA goes silent a moment after it shows the logos at the beginning -- now i remember why i abandoned the game (as i wanted to play it on the tv).

I've just tried to adjust settings according to this topic and the first follow up answer, but still no joy.
