I got a sudden surge of energy the other day so I decided to make a portfolio site! I'm working to finalise the layout atm and would like to know what mapcore thinks.

Some stuff is missing of course and it's a bit empty since I haven't made that many levels

Hey Patrick, nice to see your portfolio

Overall I like the design of the website, its nice and clean which is a good thing in my opinion.

I've never been a big fan of the lightbox galleries but some people prefer them so I wouldn't necessarily change that, its just my opinion, however I did seem to have problems clicking the close button, it might be worth looking into that.

I'm using google chrome on a 1280 x 800 laptop screen if that helps tracking down the problem

    Glad you liked it overall

Yeah I get the same problem too, gonna troubleshoot it tomorrow. Oddly, it works in explorer (usually things DON'T work as intended in explorer...).

I did some soul-searching when it came to the lightbox and I found that, after browsing other mapcorians folios, that it was the approach I preferred when viewing sites myself - so I went for it.

Should be fixed (hopefully, works here now anyway)!

Also, is there no more MapCorian feedback?

There's no BF3 jizz on the site, I swear.

I like how simple it is, and that everything fits in one page. However I also think it's a bit light (only 2 screenshots per project), I were you I'd add a few more screenshots to the lightbox gallery of each project (so you only have the 2 best ones showing on the page, but can see more by cycling through the lightbox gallery). When you add some more quality projects in there it'll definitely look solid, right now the thing that kills it a bit is the lack of content obviously.

Make you the links that take you out of the portfolio open in a new window (target="_blank") so that you don't loose the portfolio tab while you go browsing for info in the website of the project.

Only thing I'd nitpick about is that the white titles aren't very sharp and that blur makes them harder to read. I'd either make all that slightly bigger, like 1em more on the fonts and adapt the layout to fit, or try to fix the issue by saving them with a better compression.

    Other than that, cool shit!

Thanks for the feedback I've done some changes to the site today:

    - Added info-bar at the bottom of the page that is always available on every page and is static

    - Added a gallery feature (going to add better pics when I have the time)

    - External links now open in a new window

    - Modified textfont to be a bit larger, also widened the textbox to the right of the images so it doesn't feel as cramped

    - Modified titles to have thicker fonts so they don't appear as blurry

    - Removed Projects/About-tab until there is need for an About-tab

Let me know what you guys think!

*Update: There's a proper Precursor gallery now so that you can bask... in it's... awe-inspiring... beauty...

    Shameless bump ahoy!

Was planning on revamping the page soon. What do you guys dislike / think could be improved with the current design? Be as nitpicky as you want!

The info bar might get moved to the top and the links may get written out in text instead of using icons; "Resume" "Linkedin" etc. The Door is getting a gallery page too!

Yeah my main crit is that I didn't see the info bar for a while, whereas it should be noticeable straight away how to get in touch. I looked around the main page before looking at the bottom, then I realised.

Personally I think its great as it is. You just need more content.

Thanks! And that's being adressed! Soon!

Yep, I've broken the first rule of folio-creation with that. I thought it would be more visible but it's actually pretty sneaky.

Did some work today! The menu has been redesigned and moved to the top, and my resume-pdf has been overhauled too!

If you want to see what's changed, and if it's for better or worse ( ), here's the old page and the old resume.

Please let me know what you guys think! Want to make sure the page is really solid this time around.

I like it, very clean and simple. I don't think it would hurt to have some more screenshots for each level.

Do you mean in the gallery page or on the main page? A gallery page for both projects is on the to-do list and I may overhaul the current screens.

Okay, well I've done some minor tweaks here and there but the reason I bump is to ask; is the page too dark?

Just tried the page on my work monitor and it's hard to distinguish the contentboxes from the background and the background looks kind of black:ish. What do you guys say?

Okay well the thing is that I've got an IPS-panel here at home so I was unsure if it brightened the page for me. So thanks guys for checking.

    Hey guys!!!

I was thinking about remaking my folio. The basic idea is to tidy up the main page and only use it as a list of projects. Each project will then have it's own page which will have a video, a short description and some screens. Here's a VERY rough mockup of the basic idea (I don't know where to put the menu just yet). Do you think this is a better approach than my current site? What do you guys think?

EDIT: You click the project image to get to the project page of course.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. The current portfolio's fine, and unless you're trying to get a job designing websites, there are more valuable uses for your time. *shrug*
